Guest guest
Northwest KidCares is a program available to children age 18 and younger who need travel for medical treatment that is not available in their home area. Northwest Airlines introduced the program in February 1999. Northwest Airlines encourages its people and the members of its WorldPerks frequent flyer program to donate miles to the program. Guidelines for travel: The request must be made and the application completed on behalf of the child by a qualified non-profit organization or medical facility. Medical treatment must not be obtainable in the child’s home area. Medical travel must not be covered by the family’s insurance. Priority will be given to families with a financial hardship. The program does not apply to children and families needing travel to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. (That facility has its own free travel account.) Northwest and its partners must serve both the point of origin and destination. Travel includes Northwest partners including Northwest Airlink and KLM. Frequent flyer mileage cannot be earned on the free travel. Patient must be age 18 or younger. One adult companion may accompany the patient at no cost. Requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Northwest may reject the application if the above requirements are not met or if the KidCares fund does not have enough mileage available. To request an application: Contact Geiger at and leave your name and fax number or your mailing address. To donate mileage: Call toll-free and follow the instructions for donating miles to Northwest AirCares charity partners. Minimum donation is 5,000 miles and larger donations may be made in 1,000-mile increments. Members will receive 500 WorldPerks Bonus Miles for their contribution.
