I've been on Prozac and other depressants ever since Prozac first came out.

I have had to increase the dosage to 20 MG daily, about four years ago, and

it is working well.

Personally, I do feel that if you are getting used to your pain meds and

they aren't doing their job, your depressive state cannot help but increase.

Just makes sense to me.

Do see if you can decrease your pain first.... by more pain meds..... if the

pain has been increasing.

If that doesn't help, then be sure and talk to your doc about increasing

your Prozac so you can handle the pain and/or other serious problems better.

Hang in there.

Just think of how much better you are today, than before you started to take

_any_ meds for pain/depression. ;)

Anti depressants

Hi

I have suffered with chronic pain for over ten years now and have

really no hope of getting better. My goal is always to manage the pain

better

and try to be positive about what I can do.

Anyway as many of you know one of the side effects of chronic pain

is

depression and anxiety. I have been on Prozac for about 7 years now and it

has worked well. But over the last six months it seems like my depression

is

worsening and my doctor agrees. I have asked him if there is any evidence

of

people becoming too tolerant to it after being on it for so long. He says

no

I believe it may be reason for me anyway.

I am wondering if any one has had this experience with prozac and

also

what other drugs that you may be taking for depression. I do take a

handful

of meds every day but this is the only one for depression.

Thank you all, you are some of the best people I know.

Be Well ...

Hey ,

I was dx'd w/ bipolar disorder too by a psych that just wanted to get me out of

his office. It was obvious to me he didn't give a hoot, as he sat there and

munched food outta a drawer next to him...greedy butthole can't take a lunch

break???!! He gave me some Depakote that was outdated as a sample and it made

me

sick. I got some more and was on the lowest dosage there is, and I was a zombie

most of the time.

I find now that he was wrong. Further investigation reveals damage to the brain

in the limbic area...new doc that FINALLY knew what he was talking about, after

ten years of doctoring w/ various docs...when it was, as I told them, ALL IN MY

HEAD! *L* But doctors don't listen to hysterical blondes toxic from the gas

fumes she had to inhale to get there, or drunk because she ate a Reese's...I am

finally getting a team together: Internet doc at rsdrx.come, internist, and

specialist, psych, and counselor. You gotta be your own doctor when you have

multiple symptoms and complaints...have been called hypochondriac by my own

family. I have spent hours researching the family history to find out where the

OCD first began, only because I NEED to understand. They are so far out in the

river of Denial that they don't want to hear any of it, but one of these days my

son will read it. He's the one who gets to clean up my mess when my Spirit

flies

out of this shell...*L*

Been running around today and inhaling gas fumes...had to..home health aide that

usually does that had breakdown (in my arms) last week...Gonna put a pink sheet

over that cart full of laundry and tell myself it is a pretty pink cloud, not

dirty laundry.

Warm fuzzies to all,

:

Not with Prozac, but I have with other antidepressants. My psych doc

absolutely agrees that your body can become tolerant to one of those meds.

In fact, I have been switched 3 times for that very reason.

Hi

Thanks for the info. I am currently taking 60 mg daily and have been

at that level for about five years. I was on 80 mg but I found that the

sexual side effects only made me more depressed.

I appreciate any info that any one may be able to add. Thank you.

Be Well ...

Have you tried Wellburtin, I understand it is expensive, However, I

have a strange brain chemistry. Many years ago they gave me Prozac,

it nearly killed me, it put ,me in the hospital for 4v weeks, I

almost lost my job.

Wellbrutin, with xannex for the anxiety disorder has worked well for

me.
