Guest guest
> , > > Where are you moving to in Minnesota? I live in Minnesota. There is a big difference between services available between metro (Minneapolis/St and suburbs) and outstate, rural areas. We live in the outstate rural areas. I have three sons--11 years (non-verbal learning disability) , 5 years (high functioning autism) and 17 months (no dx, praying it stays this way as my plate is too full). The 5 year old is confusing as he can talk a blue streak but does not appropriately use language, therefore the autism dx instead of aspergers. Any way, welcome. Let me know where in MN you are moving to.
Guest guest
I am not sure where we are moving to yet. I do know that we would like to live near Sun Valley which is near the southern tip of Minneapolis. Mark wants to be close to Minneaplois for work concerns. Currently we have our house on the market and Mark my dh is looking for work in Minnesota. We are hoping to make the move within the next few months. (Especially since dh is unemployed right now.) Guest guest
Emma, I read your post about your son having problems with abstract ideas. I met a psychologist who is ADHD himself and works with kids who are ADHD and he mentioned there are books available for people having the same problems. I'll try and get in touch with him in the next couple of days and get the exact name and how to obtain them. I'll let you know. > >Reply-To: autism-aspergers >To: autism-aspergers >Subject: Re: welcome >Date: Mon, 30 Sep 2002 17:46:06 -0000 > >Hi, . Thanks for responding. Guest guest
Hi, Thanks for your reply In your personal opinion then, do you think it sounds like my son has AS. We r seeing the psychiatrist on thurs for the first time but i am getting very desperate and finding it very hard to keep my temper with him as i don't know what behaviour is AS and what is naughty. My brother is 33 now and functions as a 'normal' man. He is totally independant of the family, has a job and has turned his obsession into to part-time work, which is music particularly no.1 hits. He now sets questions in pub quizes and stumps alot of people. He has alot of friends and now enjoys meeting new people. I remember as a child when he made his first friend and we had a celebration in the house because it was such a huge achievement! I know there is light at the end of the tunnel but the tunnle seems so long and uphill! At the moment i cant think past today never mind the future. How does anyone deal with these so called meltdowns because my son is very distructive and yet again trashed the house yesterday after beating his brother up and calling me all sorts because he couldn't do what he wanted. This is an everyday scenario in our house!! HHEELLPP!!
