" > " WHY IM LIVING IN THIS LIFE WITHOUT ANY PURPOSE? " What I read from your posts is that the thought " my life has no purpose " is troubling you. You can do the work on: " My life should have a purpose " or " I should know the purpose of my life " (maybe: " one should know the purpose of his life " ) It looks like you feel that your life has no purpose until you found it. See if one of them makes sense to you. > BUT can u explain me > what is the differnce between > HAVING THE GOAL IN LIFE AND AND HAVING THE PURPOSE OF > LIFE > > DOES THE GOAL AND PURPOSE HAS SAME MEANING > i just cant differntiate between this 2 things I feel that " goal " is something you set yourself. I also feel that " purpose " is something you set yourself (or your thinking sets, that is). So I do not see a difference. People could argue with the pupose thing, I suppose. > and i still dont get this stuff > why we then LIVE the LIFE if we have no purpose > of our life .....? Guest guest
Hello, Abhijit. I'm not Steve, but I had some thoughts about your conversation and wanted to share them. Yesterday, while I was reflecting on your conversation with Steve, the thought came, " The purpose of Life is to celebrate Itself. " I don't know whether it's true or not, but I like it. Thinking this thought produces warm feelings inside me, so I'm going to keep it for now. " > " WHY IM LIVING IN THIS LIFE WITHOUT ANY PURPOSE? " I would say, " Because you are. " I can't find any meaning or purpose in the physical world, as has pointed out. Any meaning or purpose I might suggest to you would be made up. I could make up one purpose for life, might make up another, Jan has a third, Steve might come up with his. Now you have *four*! Which one will you choose? Which one is *right*? We can do this forever. Isn't it wonderful that we don't have to? > BUT can u explain me > what is the differnce between > HAVING THE GOAL IN LIFE AND AND HAVING THE PURPOSE OF > LIFE No difference. A life without purpose has no value. Can you really know that that's true? What is the purpose of a diamond? Does it have value? How it seems to me is that each thing and event in my experience has as much value as I give it. The diamond has value to me if I say it does. My life has value to me if I say it does. If I decide that something has no value, then for me it doesn't. > please can u tell me why we r know living in this > world > as > our LIFE has no PURPOSE > and > then our exitence tooo has no purpose > but still we r worried about our exitence > sooo ultimately i think now our living has no value > and we r living like a stupid trying to prove > something .. ... > so why shouldnt we die ...? > why r we living ? Because we are. You can make up whatever reason for it you like, or none at all. On one of her tapes, I've heard say that life and death are equal, that one is not better than the other. If that's the case, why would we want to die? Here we are, why not have a good time while we're here? Thank you for letting me say all this out loud so I could hear it. May you have what you want for yourself, Abhijit. Tom
Guest guest
Dear Abhijit, You said: " can u explain me > what is the difference between > HAVING THE GOAL IN LIFE AND AND HAVING THE PURPOSE OF > LIFE > DOES THE GOAL AND PURPOSE HAS SAME MEANING > i just cant differntiate between this 2 things " For me (and that is important, because I can not know anything for you), Goal and Purpose are not the same. For me, Goal is related to " A WHAT " and Purpose is related to " A WHY " . The goal is what you plan to do and Purpose is why you do it. For me, purpose is more related to the IDEAL. No matter what words you use to describe your IDEAL, it will always come down to " What we want, is to be HAPPY. " So for me, IDEAL and PURPOSE are more realted to a " state of being " , and GOAL is more related to a " state of doing " . Byron said " For her, if you want to be upset, get a Plan. " For me, having a Goal indicates two things: 1. Things could be better than they are or I am not as happy as I will be when the Goal is reached. 2. There is a future that will be better than the present. Let's do The Work on: " MY LIFE SHOULD HAVE PURPOSE " . 1. Is tht true? It feels true when I believe the thought MY LIFE SHOULD HAVE PURPOSE. 2. Can I really know that that is true? Not really. 3. How does it make me feel when I believe the thought MY LIFE SHOULD HAVE PURPOSE and I don't feel that I do? It makes me feel like a failure or that I am somehow " missing the mark " . It does not make me feel happy! 3.a. Can I see a reason to drop the thought MY LIFE SHOULD HAVE PURPOSE? (And I am not asking me to drop it because I can't). Yes, I can see a reason. It does not make me feel happy. 3.b. Can I find one peaceful reason to keep the thought MY LIFE SHOULD HAVE PURPOSE? Not really. 4. Who would I be withought the thought MY LIFE SHOULD HAVE PURPOSE? I would be me without the stress and guilt. More peaceful and more clear minded. Maybe more open to possibilities around me. Now the turnarounds: 1. MY LIFE SHOULD NOT HAVE PURPOSE. (Not unless it does.) For me, this sounds truer. 2. MY THINKING SHOULD HAVE PURPOSE. (Not necessarily!) 3. MY THINKING SHOULD NOT HAVE PURPOSE. For me, this sounds truer. For me, thinking does what it does. I can not know if it has purpose or not? That would be simply more thinking. Thank you, Abhijit, for giving me the opportunity to do this Work. I enjoyed it. Maybe it will be helpful for your (Or not!) Blessings to you, Steve D. > hi steve daily, > now i got u. > > but if u dont mind can i share with u my present state > .. > ok i will tell u.. > i m college student > but now i m not feeling to go to college due to > some reasons .. > now i found the reasons ... with the help of doctor.. > mostly mental reasons... > then my uncle gave the book > LOVING-WHAT-IS ? > i found it very interesting ... > i got many of my answers in that .... > that was just amazing .. > now i have started reading many books... > and im getting many of my answer from that > but im also getting many unanswered questions > like " WHAT IS MY PURPOSE OF LIFE ? Guest guest
Abhijit, one of the things I find helpful is a quote which I am told is from the Dalai Lama. If you ever need to know where you should be in life (i.e. what is my purpose) - look down at your feet. Doreen
