well.. we're off on our newest adventure... evacuating a hurricane... The

closest available motel room is in San , TX... a 10 hour drive! I think

people are taking this storm seriously. We're going to Norman, OK. I'll try

and get online soon. Betsy

I drove to Birmingham ALabama to escape Opal in 1995 after riding out

with a 6 week old - not fun - but I can say I was in the eye of

a hurricane. An awesome experience that I NEVER want to do again!

Travel mercies for you and yours.

Lee...

I remember Opal well! I was here and people were having hurricane

parties...LOL. you know what it was like!

they say that Ivan will be centered on Gadsden Alabama at 5pm Friday and

we will be under it's influence by Thursday at 7am. That's one big storm. they

are expecting (now 0 winds of 70- 80 MPH, Tornado's and said to be prepared

if the power goes out for days....This is all 6hrs inland.Said i was slow

moving and possible rainfall totals of 12+ inches in areas. I hope Betsy is OK.

As

of 7 Am The interstate 65 is going to be one way all the way to Mobile. (hear

that PW?)

Where were you escaping Opal from? Tom was in Baytown texas when Alishia

hit many years ago. He had a crazy Stepdad who wouldn't leave and tried to get

out and go to work at Lowe's the morning it hit....LOL. said it was the

weirdest thing. At the lowe's, The lumber was kindling from being smashed, but

the

lightweight foam insulation was right where it was left....

Mel, We lived in Pensacola Florida and took a direct hit from -

just got that mess cleaned up and we took another direct hit from

Opal. Hurricanes are AWFUL!! We drove home from Birmingham not

knowing if we had anything to drive home to. Thankfully all was well

with our home but many were devastated.
