Guest guest
inna my words should be to have said never to go without the use of a constant support person. but what approaches made me cringe was the one person shared a psychologist came to observe a very large person of autism who had behavior of kicking and would kick anything in her path if upset, well the psychologist suggest the teacher stand direct in front of the person and firmly tell her no kicking, like this is to be to help a person of ASD in crisis, I to know it would not be to help me. Well the teacher did this and be to get kicked much hard, then the therapist to be to comed back and said to tell her to do sit ups and to sit behind her and force this person of ASD to do so many sit ups for each fraction of kicking LOL NO connection what so ever to the cause or teaching this person a better way. He was out to extinguish a behavior that he had little understanding of the whys too. They also told the teachers to sit firmly on the person as in a restraining like hold. These to me are such cruel punishments tot eh person of ASD. If they would be to have looked more into the whys of it and then worked from that angle they would be to have seen how it had a purpose and a cause for the person with ASD. They could be then had chance to adequately address the issues and give the person dignity in their being. The above approaches are from an ignorant pro who knows little about autistic forms of communications. It is pros like him that makes me of to be angry for the children's of ASD growing up now. Too much wrong approaches. very little knowing of correct approaches. Sondra
