Guest guest
Hello Parvin, Yes..bahut dino baad, seeing ur email...from the Canadian frontiers,I guess.. Well, thanx for putting the query..and since..I have my eyes glued to the Laptop..probably,I was the first to reply..but with many other esteemed Ophthalmolgist, out here..good advice will continue to follow soon.. There is nothing like Better or Worse type of Intraocular lenses,in today's times... It is just that,we have modified the technique,of surgery..and as a result, the clarity and post op results of surgery have got better and better.. As if,Ur eye are not operated At All!! Looking at his age,I guess his needs from the surgery, r to be able to perform daily functions..and be able to read the news paper and some books of moderate printsize. U could hence go from Normal Nonfoldadble Intraocular Lense to FoldableOnes and RaguKrishnan, who also uses Toric Foldables, seems to favour, those as well. Price range is for the Indian makes and Foriegn brands..and between a Foldable and normal rigid singlepiece ones.. So,anyone is OK..for him. Good that he does not have Diabetes/Hypertension..which augers well for our results post-op. Rest is upto u..to decide. Foldables give 100%,best results.. Wish u happy times..with Winter Olympics round the corner in ur country. Bye Shyam(84) > > > Hi all! > > I am writing after a long time, I know. But, I am completely aware of what is going on here... from all discussions, to suggestions...to some " rooth jana " , travel advice etc etc. > > The reason I am addressing Ophthalmologists is that my father has cataract (both eyes). I am convincing him to get intraocular lens but he is little afraid of it (just as old people find it difficult to adjust to new technologies). He is worried because of the price of Intraocular lenses. He has been told that price of Intraocular lenses varies from Rs 800 to Rs 20,000 (this is quite possible that he may have forgotten the figures). He is surprised as to how the range is so big. It has been left to him to decide. He asked me and I do not know anything about it. I promised him that I will inform you the best. I depended on our group. > > My father is about to celebrate his 85th birth day, is lean and thin, very active, walks a lot, no hypertension/diabetes/arthritis/heart or any other problem. > > So, dear ophthalmologists, please inform me how many types of intraocular lenses are there and which will be best for him? > > Please contact me on , with Intraocular lens in the subject line. > > Thanks a lot in advance. > > Parvin K Ansari'71 >
