A friend of mine just told me about the coolest solution to ants in the house. Every year we get them, and every year it's a battle to keep them at a minimum without using something toxic. I tried what my friend suggested (with a variation) and I've been absolutely amazed at how well it worked. She said to buy the cheapest bag of sugar-filled cookies that I could find, crush them up, and sprinkle them in the grass somewhere away from my house. The ants will find the cookies and go there instead of into the house. I didn't actually use cookies. I had an old bag of sugar that had been in my cabinet for years (from back when I used to use sugar). I took about a cup of it and sprinkled it in the grass out by the road. Within 24 hours, there was not an ant in my house. After a few weeks and much rain, I noticed that the ants were starting to come back, so I sprinkled another cup of sugar out there. Again, within 24 hours, no ants in the house. My guess is that it probably wouldn't take a whole cup. I would think that even a small amount would be enough to entice the ants out of the house. Wow! What a great solution! And it actually puts something worthless (refined white sugar) to a good use. Terri -- Be Yourself @ mail.com!
