Guest guest
Hi All, I found a website earlier that talked about nails and what the ridges and moons, etc. mean: http://www.marysherbs.com/Miscellaneous/fingernails.shtml It got me thinking so I did some searching on the board and found this thread. Those of you who have been "properly" medicated/treated for a while, have you seen any difference in your nails? Are they healthier? How long did it take? Just curious - >> Does anyone know if these ugly nail ridges are caused by my > hypothyroidism? My nails are getting so bad that they are starting to > split along the ridges. Guest guest
That was a great website. I always wondered about that. My nails grew really weird and had big ridges in them for years while undertreated on Synthroid. I have been taking Armour for a year now. My nails grow straight and really fast now. I have moons now too. :-) I guess it took about 9 months to see a difference in my nails. Darla > > > > Does anyone know if these ugly nail ridges are caused by my > > hypothyroidism? Guest guest
One of my thumbnails has recently developed a reddish " bruise " above the moon and the nail itself is getting thick in the moon area. There is also a vertical line up to the tip which is weak and often splits. According to your site, I'm in big trouble! Guest guest
Hi Marti, I don't know anything about the bruised colored mark on your nail, but here is another website with pictures. Warning, some of the pictures are pretty gross looking! http://www.hooked-on-nails.com/naildisorders.html Hope you feel better soon! -
Guest guest
I've been treated with Armour since August of 2007 but didn't notice any improvement in my ridges until I switched to a different Vitamin. I now take OneSource for Women...good and cheep from Walmart....and have no more ridges, dips or discoloring of the nails. And they grow like crazy now. Guest guest
My nails improved more after starting iron than just Armour, but I still have that one odd nail... Guest guest
My toe nails are more funky then my fingernails. On my big toe the ridges run side to side instead of up and down. On my fingernails, there are a lot of ridges. Only my thumbs really have moons. That was an interesting website. Guest guest
I have one toe that is a claw, but I know why - had to have a repair of a severely ingrown nail and it was not too successful. ;-) MartiKim in No Texas wrote: My toe nails are more funky then my fingernails.
