Guest guest
from Dale, Mom to Katy, age 15, CVID, First day of school for us! Katy's being terribly resistant! She'd much rather be doing other things!!! I'm being a little pushy because we've missed so much in the past 4 years! Okay, so I'm being a lot pushy. I finally sent her to the YMCA with and I took a nap! We'll try again tomorrow. Gotta get organized!!!! Ursula, I wanted to take just a few minutes and say thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you've provided for all of us. When I think of how totally frustrated I was even after Katy was diagnosed. None of the medical books offered much hope (they were all over 10 years old) and we really couldn't spend a lot of time at the medical library with her needing us. I had found a few sites, but they didn't focus on kids. I am just so proud of you for taking the leadership and getting this thing set up and running. I know it must take hours and hours of your time, but I hope you realize how much good you are doing for all of us. Now my immunologist listens to me and I don't feel like such an idiot trying to ask questions. In fact, just about a month ago, our immunologist resigned and we are working primarily with Katy's pediatrician. She was so impressed with what I had learned in this past year since I started participating in PedPID. Now, I can confidently discuss treatment options and pros and cons. It has been a life-saver for me and my family and especially for Katy. Katy has no desire to participate, but its reassuring to her to know she's not the only kid. And she really enjoyed seeing the pictures of the pumpkins. She loves little ones and it's made her feel sympathetic toward them instead of focusing on herself. She's actively praying for and Mark and I think that's good for her. Without this group -- I think I'd be feeling pretty sorry for myself, too! You have given a lot of Moms (and Dads) the courage to deal with life as it is and the network to find help. Thanks for making all of this possible. I know that you're struggling with Macey right now and dealing with an awful lot, yet you've gone that extra mile to help us out. Thanks doesn't quite seem adequate. May God richly bless you and your little ones. In His service, Dale
