Man...Lana,

75# DB's?! Sheesh. Mine were 20# and the most I can even hold are 35# when

I do angle calf raises. I know I hurt it because I was picking them up bent

over in a funny angle. It has been 9 hours now and it hasn't gotten any

worse that I can tell. Tomorrow is cardio so I'm gonna do it and see. I

won't be stupid if it hurts too much..I'll just make it short and stop.

(wahhhh...hope not.)

So sorry to hear about your suffering. I know you have got to be so

dissappointed to have to sit out so long. Keep us posted as to your recovery

and YOU don't do anything stupid either...okay?!

Geez, Lana, your story sounds a LOT like mine, but I have yet to get to the

bottom of my medical mystery.

Approximately 2 months ago, I started feeling a strange pulling sensation in

my right upper abdomen (right under the rib cage). Some times the pulling

sensation would run down in a line to my testicle, some times it would feel

like a groin pull. It's not quite a pain, almost feels as if something is

swollen inside my abdomen or something is pushing inside my abdomen. In

addition, I have a lipoma on my left upper thigh, and recently I've started

feeling some muscle pain in my upper thigh.

Saw Doctor #1 on July 26th. Doctor #1 didn't seem to think I needed any

x-rays or ultrasounds, claimed I had a pulled groin muscle and that was

that. Saw Doctor #1 2 more times to get to the bottom of the problem...

found out Doctor #1 is an insurance mill doctor, and decided to find someone

else.

Saw Doctor #2 October 10th. Doctor #2 is board certified in Internal

Medicine and Infectious Diseases, and is one of the best doctors in the

county. Doctor #2 did extensive probing and poking of my abdomen, gave me a

really thorough physical, and determined my problem to be muscular or

skeletal. Blood tests indicated no problems. Nothing internal, he claims.

Hmm... but no x-rays or ultrasounds recommended.

So, here I am, still with this strange pulling feeling in my abdomen and

this strange pain in my left leg near the lipoma, and I still don't know

what's wrong. I know what it ISN'T, but I still don't know what it is.

I'll be seeing my new doctor again tomorrow (all new patients have a

baseline EKG taken, which is what I am having done tomorrow), and when I go

in I'm gonna say " OK... you told me what it isn't. WHO do I have to see to

find out what it is and how to fix it? " .

I don't want to be told it's nothing, and then 5 years from now find out I'm

dying from a cancer that should have been caught earlier...

I hope you heal very fast! Glad to hear you went to the doctor.

Some people are too stubborn to do that and it only gets worse.

Hi there ,

Firstly, as always, I'm not a doctor... and this information is worth

exactly what you've paid for it.

I manage to sprain/strain my shoulder/upper back area quite frequently. A

long time ago when I did more serious lifting a sports-physician gave me the

following advice.

If the pain is sharp, stop whatever you're doing, and see a doctor. If the

pain is dull, or stretching seems to help, well, strech, take some ibuprofen

3 times a day for 3 days after meals and go about business as close to usual

as you can.

Hope you recover quickly !

Oooh *cringes*. Sympathy ouch's to both and Lana.

Nothing worse than not being able to do what you love doing.

If there is a qualified Accupressure therapist in your area you

might want to try that. Some physiotherapists may provide it.

Accupressure is like accupuncture and works on the same

principles, but without the needles if needles freak you out hehe.

The whole idea is to unblock the pathways of qi or ch'i that has

locked up the muscles in that area. I know it sounds a bit

strange :o)... but it really works. Hurts when he does it though,

as he applies quite intense finger pressure to the area, but the

effect is pretty swift and you only need 1 or 2 sessions.

It's excellent for rapid recovery of sports injuries, RSI, carpal

tunnel syndrome and neck and head aches and pains. It's

become very popular along with accupuncture, here in New

Zealand where we have a lot of sports related injuries.

Hope it can help,

Cat

Hi Cat,

It doesn't sound strange to me. I am one of those people who have been

exposed to alternative medicin since I was a kid so it is all very normal to

me. I had an hour appointment with my personal massotherapist...who also

happens to be my husband...who noted that I have something out in my lumbar

region. My sacrum is higher on the left than the right so it is torqued. I

will be seeing a man that does non-traditional structural adjustments today

or tomorrow. He will get things back where they should be...then my body can

take it from there.

Just sitting on an icepack. Probably will skip the cardio for today and see

how I feel after the adjustment. Thanks for ya'lls support and feedback.

Wayne...I was hoping since I hadn't heard anything for a while that your

mystery problem had gotten resolved. Sorry that it has not. I think

sometimes we can know if there is something seriously wrong inside of our

bodie if we tune into our inner senses. If your inner sense is that

something is seriously wrong even though the doctors are not alerted by your

symptoms, then assert yourself as agressively as you need to. Doctors forget

to listen to the most informed source of information...the patient. Let the

doctor know you know your body and you absolutely know something is wrong and

you will not stop until you have found out what it is. When a doctor hears

the full intent of your desires they are more inclined to shift their

position on direction of treatment.

Good luck.

Ouch Kelley! I'm late to this party, but wanted to say that I hope

you are feeling better by now. Also, to Lana (my sweetie pie) sorry

you're laid up with the bum back, that really sucks. Maybe your bod

really *did* need that break and this is just it's way of letting you

know. Hope you are feeling better really soon! Wayne, let us know

how the Dr.'s visit goes, we are all hoping that it turns out to be

nothing. *hugs* to all of ya
