Guest guest
I don't know how close Birmingham is to Mobile, but Runels in Mobile is excellent. If you can make it to Lufkin, Dr. Kittley may meet your criteria. You will not necessarily find a better thyroid doc in a larger city. >> Hi everyone, > > I tried posting this once before so if it gets posted twice I'm sorry. > My net messed up. Guest guest
Hi. I am also trying to find another doc who is closer to my house. I found Dr. Sloan in Lufkin who is an endo but I have not made an appt. with him. I don't know anything about him. I have tried a couple of docs in Houston (where my daughter lives), but have not been impressed with either. I am due to have some blood work done and will be going to Houston friday for this. Once I get the results, I will probably try and find another doc for my next visit. That is why I am considering calling Dr. Sloan's office. I live in Woodville, which is about an hour south of Lufkin. If anyone has knowledge of Dr. Sloan I would appreciate any input. I did see a woman post something about her doc being really good in Tyler but she didn't put his name in the post. I know you guys do a wonderful job of updating the doc list when you get info but I'm hoping there might be a lurker on here that sees this and says "oh I know of a wonderful doc" lol. Wishful thinking I know. My mother lives in Birmingham Al so I may end up having to travel there to see a doc since its a bigger city than Longview or Tyler. Any help or information on this doc or any others in or around this area? I'm calling his office today to see if he treats based on labs or symptoms. I know that will tell me a LOT about him. Guest guest
Delana, Who did you see in Houston? I am looking for a Houston doc and don't want to waste my time seeing someone I wouldn't like. What did you not like about them? Has anyone heard or gone to Sheldon feld, MD in Houston? My psychiatrist suggested him saying he was one of the best..... Hi everyone, > > I tried posting this once before so if it gets posted twice I'm sorry. > My net messed up. Guest guest
He is a horrible dr. He told me that I didn't have any thyroid removed (based on his ultrasound)...idiot. I had an excellent two surgeons in there and had tumors removed. And, he told me that I didn't need thyroid meds but I did need to go to an inpatient therapy for the tune of $5000 for three days and so on. I told him he was wrong and I would prove it. I did. I got off of meds and my TSH shot up. Not that he will ever know as I wouldn't waste my time or $$ to go back to him. I can assure you I am not depressed, I just have fatigue...hmmm, what do you think could be causing that? Delana,Who did you see in Houston? Guest guest
Initially I saw Dr. Sharma (sp.?) who performed the biopsy that determined I had thyroid cancer. She was very indifferent and in my opinion rough when she performed the biopsy. She had a doc observing her as she did the biopsy and his phone rang durning the procedure. I did not appreciate it. The biopsy was quite painful. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, as I've been through other surgeries and this was right up there as far as pain goes. I then went Dr. Sherman at MD . He is extremely knowledgable regarding the endocrine system. However, he is a numbers only doc, basically telling me that my feeling bad had to be related to some other issue. I saw him for a year. Then I tried Dr. Jablonski in Webster. His bedside manner left a lot to be desired. Another knowledgable doc but falls in the category of the number game, not how you feel. He also said that my feeling tired etc must be related to something else. From what I've learned on this site, they are typical of endo docs. Neither doc likes armour. I will go to Dr. Jablonski's office friday for blood work. I don't have to see him though. I am currently on unithroid and I feel okay. I honestly think I could feel better, but since I have leveled out some, I think I would be nervous to switch over to Armour and have to go through the adjustment period again. Hope this helps.
