Dr. Launius in ville is good if you do not have adrenal issues. Dr. is good for everything.

I would suggest that you schedule a second opinion appointment, but keep the appointment to go over the tests this Friday. If it appears that your current doc will help you, you can always cancel that other appointment.

Where in Dallas do you live? I am in Garland. We sometimes have meetings in North Dallas.

Thanks for the reply.. that's what I thought.. it just helps to hear

someone else say it.

Where can I read more about adrenal issues.. I haven't really

researched that.

I live in Downtown Dallas, but work near 75/635. I'd love to come to

one of your meetings!

Welcome. I’m in the Dallas area. My entire

hypothyroid family goes out to Lubbock.

Did they screen you for Hashi’s?

New Member - Dr Appt Friday

Hello. Thank you for this group and allowing me to

join.

I have a Dr appt on Friday (2/22) to review the results of bloodwork

that was peformed a week ago.

After reading postings on this site, I am convinced that we didn't

run enough tests/the right tests.

The dr ran TSH and Free T4. (as well as the normal bloodworks test

such as CBC, Lipid Profile, Metabolic panel).

My family has a large history of Thyroid problems - just about every

female in the family (thanks mom!) :)

I am also experiencing all the classic symptoms. The one that is

killing me the most is the high heart rate and pounding heart. My

pulse is around 116 and blood pressure at 130/80.

The Dr did give me something to help me sleep. But during the day, I

feel like a bobble-head doll.. I can constantly feel my heart

beating.

Last week, dr said she thought it was my thyroid, but wanted the test

to confirm. and *IF* the test doesn't, then we start looking at other

issues..

Based on that statement, I'm just not sure this is going to be the

doctor for me.

I live in the Dallas area and noticed a doctor

in ville

that is

recommended.. and I'm not opposed to going to Lubbock, either.

Would you wait for the results this friday? or go ahead and schedule

a second opinion?

In the meantime, is there anything that I can do for the pounding

heart and high pulse (dr said that she'd put me on Beta-Blockers IF

the test confirmed thyroid issues).

I have tried B-Complex Vitamins, Magnesium, Calcium.. CoQ10,

Niacin...

Thanks for your advice.

She did not test for Hashi's.. at least didn't mention it.

She only ran TSH and Free T4.. plus the " normal " bloodwork she would

run if you were having a physical. This is an internal medicine

doctor... she also took Chest x-rays and EKG to check my heart (just

in case)

I share symptoms from the Hyper and Hypo sides... My Grandmother,

Aunt and Cousin have all either had their thyroid removed, or had the

radioactive procedure to " kill " it - which I believe points to Hyper

(if I read correctly).

Yet, 3 other aunts have various immunine diseases.. From what I read,

thyroid and immune diseases go hand-in-hand.

Forgive my spelling, cuz that it certainly one of my brain fog

areas...

Also, I'm a Kim.. I've noticed several on the board.. Maybe it's a

name thing...

Exactly!!! I'm finding ALL of this to be about as clear as mud!!!

I have Hypo AND Hyper symptoms..

I even have some of the Adrenal issues..

AHHH.. Enough to make me pull what remaining hair I have out!!!

I do thank you for all of your advice.. and I believe that to be on

the safe side, I need to have my Adrenals tested as well...

Where do I start with symptoms..

the heart racing/pounding is the one that bothers me the most..

My mind races, also.. I would say I border on having panic attacks

because of it.

I have no stress in my life, so no reason to have these issues..

I laughed when I read that someone mentioned not wearing t-shirts.. I

have to wear v-necks, or wide necks, otherwise, I feel choked.

I wear tank tops in the winter.. and even less in the summer..

I went from about 97 pounds.. to 137 within 1-2 years, with no change

in diet/exercise.. and no matter what I do, I cannot get below 135. I

peaked at 148.. I refused to hit 150, and went on Weight Watchers..

Constant headaches..

Hair Loss.. Oh where did it go?? I had the thickest hair.. and now I

have to style it so my scalp doesn't show..

Ringing in the ears.. to the point that I ask other people if they

can hear it.. (Yeah, they think I'm nuts)

Sweaty - refer to tank top comments... I've had to upgrade deodorant

to the heavy duty stuff

Memory loss/spelling issues.. I can't remember words.. I ask my honey

if he wants some tomatoes with me, when I mean strawberries.. I can't

remember the word cauliflower and call it " the white stuff " ... I just

blank out completely..

Exhausted.. no sex drive..

and I go back and forth with bowel issues.. I haven't been diagnosed

IBS, but I have all those symptoms as well.

Oh and GERD.. I have a nexium prescription for that..

I've been treated off and on for several years for adult acne..

It seems like everything I've gone to the dr for in the past several

years, could have come from my thyroid...
