Guest guest
Now that inactivity has been recognized as a threat to physiological well being, some authorities have suggested that exercise may be the cheapest preventative medicine in the world. Researchers in medicine, nutrition, psychology, physiology, and physical education agree that exercise, properly performed, is necessary for maintaining functional physical fitness. No responsible health educator will ever suggest that exercise is a panacea. But it is clear that, just as we need food, rest and sleep, we need daily exercise for the maintenance of our physical capacities. Physical fitness is not an end in itself but a means to an end. It provides the basis for optimal physiological health and gives us the capacity to enjoy a full life. So why should you get fit? Well there are many reasons why you should get fit. Firstly you decrease the risk of heart disease and other related illnesses. By pushing your heart to work that little bit harder each day, each day you make your heart stronger and healthier. You can loose weight and look great for your holiday or special occasion. Get that washboard six pack to impress the beach blondes. Although you will inevitably get tired after doing exercise, doing so regularly will raise your energy levels making you feel good and giving you that extra "spring" in your step. You can reduce stress levels by going for a jog or a session on the punch bag helping you feel more calm and relaxed and an overly more approachable person. Exercise every day. Exercising on a regular basis will eliminate 50% of the health problems we incur. A good diet can eliminate 30% more. There is no reason why we can't be much healthier than we are. These are things under our control. Yahoo! for Good Click here to donate to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
