Good for you for keeping on top of the situation with your doctor. Valley Fever is serious business. The EN Should subside when the VF is conrolled. We can offer both support and information. Welcome, both of you, to to our Friendly Group!Love,Idiopathic EN 1968*******Name: Kendell Davenport 48, on behalf of my wife Terra Davenport 35, who is too ill to be researching online. Location: Coalinga California Email: krd-tld@... Yahoo ID kendelldav Symptoms/reason: My wife: Reddish weals, generally small, but often so dense it appears as a large area, iternittently itchy, but continuously painful. First appeared on inner forearms but has spread to upper chest, shoulders, upper back, legs and today even the palms of hands. Prescribed treatments (steroids) have made it worse, and doctor advised general aids to soothe symptoms( Aveno oatmeal baths etc, have made inflamations redder and more painful. Probable trigger condition is Valley Fever, but doctor is depending on blood tests for diagnosis, which can take several tests and weeks, instead of simply allowing the preponderanced of evidence; symptoms, that we live in an endemic area, that we have had 2 deaths and 100's of cases in this small town of less than 10,000 in the past year, and that our next door neighbor and patient of the same doctor died last year after waiting too long for treatment: decide the probability and diagnosis. First symptoms appeared 6 weeks ago, lasted a few days and then disappeared, again flared up aweek ago, much more severly( common among Valley Fever sufferers as the body first begins producing antibodies) The first instance was treated with a steroid, which helped the EN, but was the WORST thing you can do for Valley Fever. This time doctor prescribed a very potent antibiotic, which we ceased after 2 pills because of reactions, and then research which again showed it was the WRONG treatment for Valley Fever. We agree to treat everyone with respect( we always do, even the doctor we are fighting with) and to not advertise in any way products or services. We found this site by doing a google search after a posting on a Valley Fever message board indicated your existence but not precise location/address. Our primary need at this time is to find ways to alleviate some of the discomfort of the EN while waiting for and going through treatment for the Valley Fever, which can take months of antifungal medication.
