Guest guest
My son Sam has always been fairly flexible as autistics go. However, recently he has become more rigid about watching only familiar movies, listening only to certain songs, never allowing us to introduce anything new. In fact, when we do introduce something new, he becomes extremely distressed. I don't know what to do about this. We have several new videos that we thought he would like, since he likes similar (blues clues, bob the builder), that he absolutely refuses to watch. Using a reinforcer does not help, as no edible appeals to him much anymore, and all reinforcers lose their value in the face of his distress. Any suggestions?
