Guest guest
I had to stop taking nortriptyline because I couldn't urinate and it made me ravenously hungry. Nortriptyline is Mayo's first choice drug for chronic pain. Topamax is their second choice. Topamax is a lot more expensive and the side effects can be nasty. Kidney stones are probably about the worst one, but it can cause tingling and low potassium. I wanted to be put on Topamax because it depresses the appetite and I need to lose weight. They see dramatic weight loss in some patients. Maxine Re: Exercising My pain Dr has prescribed Nortriptyline. I've noticed a lot of people getting off of it and going to Topamax. May I ask why?? I'm on a VERY low dose to start of the Nortriptyline..so I haven't seen any added problems so far. I appreciate your information. Guest guest
Hi Folks: Are these two drugs you mentioned narcotic or muscle relaxers? Sorry to be so ignorant, but I am new to this whole thing. Thanks.
Guest guest
Nortriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant that is used for chronic pain relief with good success. Topamax is an anti-epileptic drug that also works for chronic pain. Maxine Re: Nortriptyline vs. Topamax Hi Folks: Are these two drugs you mentioned narcotic or muscle relaxers?
