Guest guest
I had seen that episode of ER, although I hate the message I think the writer did what was actually realistic treatment that a parent would recieve. Unfortuanatly it is the way it is. We are all trying so hard to raise awareness and by doing that it will someday change. Till then though, I think that if any of us were in that position in just about any hospital we would be told the same thing... someday that will change. Guest guest
I am sure it was not by accident this part of the story was made up. I mean right now the government is going out of its way scaring parents into vaccinations again!!!! I can vouch that I was told on several occassions that without vaccinations my children would die or were not whole Charlene -- Another Autism community blow / ER / A forwarded post Just another blow to the bellies of the autistic community that I thought I'd share. Has anyone seen ER ( the TV show) on monday. One of the story lines was of a small child who contracted measles from his mother(who went overseas on a business trip and was contagios). When the doctors determined that the dying boy had measles they asked the mother if he was up to date on his vaccinations, she replied " No, they cause Autism " . Well the dialogue that followed basically chastised the mother for her " ignorance " and the boy eventually died. They, in some many words, blamed the mother for her sons death. Guest guest
I saw that episode. The writers were very insensitive to parents of children who have been vaccine injured. You're right, they were addressing what they felt was an important health issue, that parents are being unnecessarily frightened into skipping childhood vaccines. It is true that there are millions of children who are completely unaffected by their vaccines and they believe that preventing epidemics of potentially fatal diseases such as diptheria far outweighs the tiny risk associated with vaccines. That's the by-line. However, it is easy to say that when the risk is not to YOUR child. It should be up to parents whether or not to take the risk, and everyone's choice should be respected. These same people turn around very quickly when someone in their own family has bee affected. But isn't that usually the case? We often don't pay attention until we are personally affected by something. That was the message of one of the public service announcements on that " Night of Too Many Stars " the other night. If you don't know someone with autism now, you will soon. Very true. > I am sure it was not by accident this part of the story was > made up. > I mean right now the government is going out of its way scaring > parents > into vaccinations again!!!!
