Dear Group, We know that lupus is one of the related disorders to EN. In fact a couple days ago our Member, Tawnya who has EN was diagnosed with Lupus. This article shows the correlation between PG and lupus http://dermatlas.med.jhmi.edu/derm/display.cfm?ImageID=1010269095 Note many photos and links to lupus articles form the above site.

Also, Colleen, here are some PubMed articles you might use in your upcoming presentation:http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?GeneratedBy=DermAtlas & cmd=search & db=PubMed & term=%22Pyoderma%20Gangrenosum%22%5Bmh%5D%20AND%20%22Lupus%20Erythematosus%2C%20Systemic%22%5Bmh%5D I hope the Group is ok with my posting this photo. I know it may be too graphic for some members, but it's for our own good to know what PG looks like. Rarely does EN turn to PG, but again, if it does, you need to get competant care quickly as it spreads fast, and can cause damage as well as hurt. This probably started out like a blister. So if you have EN and it starts to blister, be aware.I've seen so many of these wounds online that the looks don't bother me. All I can think of is how painful it must be. With proper care this 10 month old wound started to heal :-)Love,idio. EN '68

believe me, i can attest, it is painful. when it ulcerates, there

are many, many, 100's of thousands of nerve endings that get

aggitated. this pic actually shows healing, it is not ulcerating.

the pink stuff in the middle is " granulation " , that is actually new

derm growing, the yellow stuff is " nercrotic tissue " .
