Guest guest
hi colleen, you had asked about the yellow, i think you said fat looking stuff on your pg. that is something called " nercrotic tissue " . it is old " sloff " if you will and has accumulated. you prolly notice a rather pungent odor, especially when the pg is in an inflamed or ulcerating condition. there is no way to describe that oder unless you smell if for yourself. the nercrotic tissue contributes to this. does not really hurt anything but my derm docs always wanted it cleaned off. using whirlpool, dressings that help remove this (certain ointments), lavage treatments, etc. help remove it. being clean and well dressed and often is important.....learned this in wound care. i think wound care is key in getting pg to clear up. jeff
Guest guest
Jeff, I keep my PG wound undressed most of the time. I found that dressing it makes the wound stick to the dressing making it painful to remove. Do you know what the disadvantages/advantages to this could be? Stay in the know. Pulse on the new Yahoo.com. Check it out.
Guest guest
Hey Jeff, I do have some " nercrotic tissue " but then I also have pieces of fat come out that's why I was wondering if you actually had pieces of fat. The more reading I do and the more pictures I look at the more I am wondering if I do truly have PG or is it something else… ~Colleen
Guest guest
hi radio (what's your name?), i think the thing to do is to put either an anitbacterial ointment under the dressing or if you are using an immunomodulator, and you probably should be, like fk-47, keep this under the dressing. the derm had me keep fk-47 under the dressing all throughout the healing process. jeff > > Jeff, I keep my PG wound undressed most of the time. Guest guest
hey colleen, i think it is pg. it looks like it anyway. has all the features of it. you had biopsies as well. it really is not fat, although it appears like it. it is nercrotic tissue, a normal part of what happens with pg after the ulceration stops. jeff > > Hey Jeff, > I do have some " nercrotic tissue " but then I also have pieces of fat > come out that's why I was wondering if you actually had pieces of fat. > The more reading I do and the more pictures I look at the more I am > wondering if I do truly have PG or is it something else… > > ~Colleen >
Guest guest
Jeff If you say so I will take your word but all the doctors tell me that some of it is fat. It comes out in about 2-5mm wide pieces and can go as long as 2 cm. Hopefully the Dr. at Mt. Sinai will have an opening sometime in the next few weeks so that I can see him instead of my GP in hopes of avoiding Pred. ~Colleen
Guest guest
colleen, well, it could be, just that i have never heard of it. jeff > > Jeff > If you say so I will take your word but all the doctors tell me that > some of it is fat. Guest guest
Jeff~ For some reason I trust you right now more then the doctors I have. I was just asking because from all of this I have learned it never hurts to ask. ~Colleen > > > > Jeff > > If you say so I will take your word but all the doctors tell me that > > some of it is fat. Guest guest
colleen, i understand. i come here with the following knowledge base: 1. as a patient, deeply involved in his disease. i know what pg, cd,aied, episcleritis and joint pain are. 2. i ask questions and read and research. 3. i have a deep conviction that others in similar situations don't suffer needlessly like i did....mainly due to lack of knowledge. you won't see an " MD " title in here anywhere. so as long as you understand where i come from it's okay. i appreciate your compliments. i know i don't know it all, but i try! jeff > > > > colleen, > > > > well, it could be, just that i have never heard of it. > > > > jeff
Guest guest
Hey Jeff, You have more knoledge then the doctors who are treating me now have so until I see a doctor who has treated more people with PG I listen to you more then them. I am working on my powerpoint right now in hopes of being able to gain a deeper understanding of PG so when I go see the Dr. at Mt. Sinai I will be able to ask more educated questions. Quick question. Do you mind if I use the picture or two of your leg from this site in my presentation? ~Colleen > > > > > > colleen, > > > > > > well, it could be, just that i have never heard of it. > > > > > > jeff >

Guest guest
Hey Jeff, I just posted a picture with the start of my PG pocket (day 2 today). I have an appoitment set up with the Doctor at Mt. Sinai on the 25th at 7:20 in the morning (mornings + college student=bad mix). Due to the fact that I don't know what my leg will look like at that point in time I will most likely be taking pictures every other day to track the progress to show this new doctor and I will post more pictures as they are taken if you want. ~Colleen
Guest guest
colleen, so happy you got in to mt sinai so fast (must be nice having a doc for a dad, eh? hee, hee). you will get much help there, i am confident. i think this was the right move. yes, keep taking pics, i did this also, but could of taken more as it healed. some day i will take a pic of the scar this thing left....looks ugly...of course, all the subconanious tissue was all ulcerated away so it left primarily skin and bone........no nerves, they were distroyed! this is why getting after this is so dang important! love, jeff > > Hey Jeff, > I just posted a picture with the start of my PG pocket (day 2 today). > I have an appoitment set up with the Doctor at Mt. Guest guest
Jeff, I got into Mt. Sinai all by myself that fast. I called to make an appt and the guy said it would be a few weeks before I could get in and I was like the sooner the better and he asked why and I said that I have PG and heard that the dr. had a sizeable practice and as soon as I did that he shifted modes and was like oh in that case how about the 25th. My dad is going to come get me from college Tuesday night and we will spend the night at my grandparents so that he doesnt have to come get me in the morning and we will leave their house at 6 because of lovely NYC traffic. I can't take any more pics for this pocket because it burst today due to the fact that I had been on my leg all day and since it was such a short time since my last pocket the skin was really weak. I will try and track the progress with the next pocket if I think of it. ~Colleen
