Guest guest
Dear MB: 1. I should be earning more money. Then possible turnaround would be: " I should not be earning more money. " 2. " I should be less afraid. " Turn around: " I should not be less afraid. " Or " I can not be less afraid than what I am right now. " Both of your statements are lies and not true. They are great examples of how we argue with What Is or Reality. They are sort of like the fellow I heard today doing The Work on " I wnat to write a book. " Well, evidently not until he writes something. There must be other things he wants to do more. In this moment are you " earning more money " ? If not then to believe you should be is an obvious lie. This does not mean that you will not earn more money and it certainly is not a judgement about whether or not you should earn more money. It is just a simple look at the truth and right now you are not but you believe you should be. That is like trying to teach the proverbial Cat to bark! It is impossible. In this moment are you afraid? If not then your thought is not true and if you are afraid then saying that you should not be is again arguing with reality or What Is! It is sort of like saying it should not be raining while it is raining. Thoughts of this type can only create stress because our true nature is truth and they are obvious lies! I hope this is helpful. Blessings, Steve D. > I'm new to this, and this may be in all of the messages somewhere, > but how do I do a turnaround on myself? Like, I should be earning > more money. I look for ways to turn thoughts around to myself, to the other, to the opposite (of the thought), to my thinking, to being willing, and to looking forward to. To take your example about earning money... - to the other: Other people should be earning more money. - to the opposite: I should not be earning more money, or I should be earning less money. - to my thinking: My thinking should be earning more money. I should be earning more thinking. - to being willing: I am willing to earn more money. I am willing to believe that I should be earning more money than I do. - to looking forward: I look forward to earning more money. I look forward to believing that I should be earning more money than I do. I also like to try replacing words like " should " , " must " , or " have to " with words like " could " , " might " , or " want to " . - I could be earning more money. I might be earning more money. Finally, an idea that occurs just now is to replace one symbol with another. For example, replacing the symbol " money " , - I could be earning more popcorn. - I could be earning more earmuffs. - I could be earning more earwigs. - I could be earning more dirt. - I could be earning more honey. Also, while looking for ways the turnarounds are true for me, I try to remember that I don't have to believe the turnaround any more than the original thought. I don't know if anyone else will agree with me, but *I* think the most important thing is to have fun. Tom
