You will get a biopsy to find out how much damage has been done to your liver. Then the doctors will decide. They can't tell for sure without the biopsy.

Your doc will assess your lab work and make a determination from there. It would be great if you wrote down all your questions and took them with you. Having someone else there is also a good idea.

Is the biopsy something dr. would do on this first visit or schedule it later? Do y'all think I should take someone with me for the first visit (for extra ears, questions, moral support) or should I be fine alone?

Hi Suzie,

I'm working on my list of questions for the doc. Problem is there's still so much I don't know, I don't even know which questions to ask at this point! Thanks to you folks though, I'm getting more informed. I feel so much safer getting links from the group to use rather than blindly hitting whatever comes up in a search. I understand that although the net is full of info, it's also full of mis-info.

Should I keep my results on a spreadsheet? Anyone got one you can send me?

I'm hoping I can calm down after I see the doc tomorrow, but right now I have so much running thru my head -- I'm already maxed out on the financial end of seeing so many doctors, more tests and TX will only get worse in that respect, what happens if I lose my job & insurance while I'm in the middle of TX, and on & on.

Just realized the time -- gotta get out of here! God gives us a good day every day, it's up to us to make it great!

Hello ,

A liver biopsy is a surgical procedure usually done as day surgery at a hospital . The liver has a lot of veins so they like to keep you lying on your right side for about 4 hours to make sure that you don't start bleeding .This being said it's not all that big of a deal - I felt fine 15 minutes after my second & wanted to go home , I stayed for two hours & then signed myself out A M A .

Bringing someone with you the first time is a good idea but what I would bring is a list of questions - anything you don't understand about hep c & it's effects on your body - write them down so you don't forget any . Also , tell your doc that you want copies of all of your test results , then you can monitor your progress.

Suzie

One more time folks. Deb and I would like to know how many of us in this group are on treatment. We aren't keeping a secret file, we just want to be able to see how you're doing.

With love
