Well, one thing I do, is write down a list of the questions I want to ask

then pull it out at my appt and go down the list with the Dr. that way I

don't forget to ask anything. If I don't write it down, my memory usually

fails me. Hope this helps.

Hugs,

I typed up a list of everything I thought might be useful. It included what

surgeries and serious illnesses I have had, what symptoms I have and each

separate diagnosis, medications (and the year tried) that were discarded due to

being either ineffectual or having serious side effects. (I also listed which

meds gave me what side effects). I listed the medications I was currently taking

and the two meds that I am violently allergic to. I also included copies of my

latest MRI and Catscan reports, plus the report from the last blood work I had

done. I even included what physiotherapies and other modalities (such as

traction and tipping) had been tried.

I broke it into categories and the list was almost three pages long. I included

the names of any physicians (with their phone numbers) that I had seen who had

added more to my already too long list of ailments or who had been particularly

helpful.

The chronic pain doctor and his practical nurse were both thrilled with my

efforts. They read it through before we even began having a serious

conversation. My notes are in my permanent file and when the doc thinks of

something that might be useful, he always checks the notes to see if it has been

tried already.

Those notes got our first meeting off to a very good start and we have developed

an excellent working relationship.

Wow, Lyndi, you did your homework and you found a doctor who appreciated it. I

have done stuff like that and it has been tossed aside and ignored. Most pay

attention to it and appreciate it, but sometimes their lack of interest is a

jaw-dropper.
