Guest guest
, When I have to get up and walk, I'll sometimes just send the note to myself. Then, when I get back, I can open it, delete the Yahoo! trash, complete it, and send it on its merry way. It is a safe and simple way to solve the problem but not the slick geeky way. 3 Cheers, Alan Raleigh, NC > Does anyone here know how to save an email that yahoo claims has timed out? <snip> > > I have tried copying it to a fresh email but haven't found the right trick yet. > > Any ideas? > > >
Guest guest
Alan: Boy are you smart. I am taking a computer course in the fall and hope it makes me a little more savy. I am one stupid broad on the computer. I have to do it the geek way cause I don't know any other way. donna Alan wrote: When I have to get up and walk, I'll sometimes just send the note to myself. If you are using a real email client, then you should have straightforward options for tweaking your mail. Actually anyone who has Internet Explorer on their machine, likely has Outlook Express installed as well. Having an email client makes it possible to avoid using yahoo or hotmail or any of the other web based programs. Email clients are faster, easier to operate, and once you've downloaded your mail, it's yours to keep for as long as you want. No timing out or disappearing before you're done with it. No limits on how many messages you can keep. I've kept some of my favourite messages on my machine from the '90s. (mostly stuff that my kids sent me) I just transfer them over whenever I get a new machine. It's just a techno way of saving old letters. Most email clients also have good help pages, so setting the preferences the way you want them is quite simple. Then, if you want to change them around, you can do that too. -- Lyndi
Guest guest
Lyndi, I use outlook express .. If that tells you anything. I about to take a puter course at Senior Citizens. Starts in Sept. There are so many things I don't know how to do. No one has ever shown me anything. I have just picked along. This is my second computer and the old one has all the stuff on it I would have loved to have saved cause it has all to do with 9/11. I don't know how to transfer it. Stan bought me this one for Christmas and the guy he bought it from came in and set the basics and left me on my own. Of course, it doesn't help I am not from the computer age. At least I know how to delete the old mail before I upset the poor moderators. sometimes I do forget though. donna --------- Moderator comment: We don't get " upset " - we get tired. <grin> -- Lyndi co-moderator
