Hang in there, Therese.

I have had a low in my career, and have felt very similar to you. I

try to be optimistic, but it was hard when everything seemed to be

headed down the drain.

Maybe you could get a simple job related to something that you like to

do, then you can ease back into the field of higher education. Or try

offering your services to the community colleges. I have a friend who

was denied tenure and was lost for awhile. He taught at community

college and that led to a job he loves in journalism.

Try to remember that when a door is shut, a window is opened. Even if

that window faces a brick alley, there is a chance to look out and see

the sun. Sorry, that was sappy.

And like I said to Ella, you gotta get that anger out. I think it is a

good idea to stop reading about BPD's that " go good " . There is a

snowball's chance in hell for that to happen to most of our nadas!

Life will gat better for you.

(((((((((hugs)))))))))))

Di.

Hi Therese,

I am sorry that you're going thru a low point in your career.

I had the same thing happen to me over a year ago with a horrible nada

boss.

Losing my career felt so horrible. I was sure that I would never get

another job in that field. And then, when I was offered one, just the

thought of going back to that whole industry and job made me feel so sick.

Now, I don't have the career thing figured out, am much happier and

can't even believe that I actually worked in my previous job, for that

boss in that company in that field (UGH). That was really nada's

career reality for me, not my choice.

I know that things will get better for you. You deserve something

better and I know that it will happen for you. (I'm sending you good

vibes).

Hugs,

Lula

You are a sweetie, Lula.

I've often thought that I may not really want my former career, but

I want to teach and write, I know that. Both my parents are snobs

about careers, and I wonder if the academic life I had isn't also

one of their projections onto me about what the right career should

be for me (meaning them, since I don't have any reality in their

minds except as an extension of them). It's a thought. I really do

hate the snobbery, pettiness, and backbiting politics that can occur

in that sector.

Oh, well, I'm up late and getting a lot of comfort from reading

these posts.

Thanks for your kind words again, Lula!

Thanks, Therese!

I just had another thought....Even if your academic

career was one of your FOO's projections...I would

feel grateful and honored that my FOO had such lofty

career aspirations for me.

My nada and fada always told me that I was no good,

therefore, a failure in the outer world.

Hugs,
