This posting was on the " Rants and Raves " page of our local Craig's List... No indication of the poster's role in the hospital, but I'm guessing a nurse or nurse assistant, or maybe a ward clerk. Can't say I haven't had similar thoughts... but never saw it out for public consumption quite like this...Not sure what I think, what do you think?

" Hospitals are NOT Hotels, we are not the Red Cross!!! We are a

hospital! Why is it when someone gets injured we have that one family

that has to camp out for days or even weeks at the hospital? I'm not

talking about just the next of kin, but the ENTIRE extended family,

plus friends, plus children and teenagers in the family that should be

in school!

What pisses me off most of all is the children/infants that don't need

to be exposed to the many number of diseases that hospitals harbor.

It's sad when parents have to be told to put shoes on children running

or to pick up their child waddling on their stomachs in the middle of

the halls only to be met with, " How dare you tell me how to raise my

kid " ! OK then, let your kid step or waddle in blood or poo or just be

in a place that can never truly be clean and get Staph, Hep B, MRSA,

etc.... idiots!

Then there is the issue of why the entire family is there that I cannot

figure out. There is NOTHING you can do for your family member that is

ill, NOTHING! I especially find it funny when the family member is in a

coma and 20 people are crowding in the hallway outside the room. The

family member does not know you are there, go home!!!

There is NO reason for you to be here taking up space in the

waiting rooms! You move the chairs around to make a bed, and then try

to sleep there all day when others need to sit down. It's a chair for a

reason, if we intended you to move in we would provide you with a

recliner at least! Why does the hospital have annoyingly bright light

in the waiting areas and uncomfortable chairs? It's for a good

reason.... WE DON'T WANT YOU TO STAY HERE FOR DAYS ON END! On a lovely

side note, want to know why they ripped the carpets out of all the

waiting rooms? YOU had lice and infested EVERYONE by sleeping on the

floor and creating a super colony of lice that stayed in the carpet!

Out of the entire clan, big surprise, not a one of you have ANY money

or ANY way to get back to wherever it is you came from once you get

here! You also bring NO change of clothing, no deodorant, nothing. It

is sad when the hospital staff have to give the women in the group

feminine hygiene products because all the collective money was blown on

Mt Dew and slim-jims. When hospital social services has to give your

children some diapers and formula because you are retarded! You fester

in the halls, roaming and bothering ALL the hospital staff with your

retarded questions because where you come from no building is over 2

stories high. You pile 14 deep into the elevators pushing every floor,

riding it like it's your own personal toy, with a big look of surprise

in your eyes because obviously you have never seen anything as glorious

as an elevator. Guess it's a treat to ride them when you get to visit

" That there Big City " !

Then shortly after you arrive, smelling like a bag of assholes, with

your Dale Earnhardt leather jacket, missing most of your teeth due to

your meth/lack or oral hygine you start bothering everyone for money

for your smokes and Mountain Dew. You carefully explain how your 3rd

Uncle once removed/Pa-Pa drove full speed into a tree while drunk on

paint thinner on the ATV without a helmet on a dare and how you need a

dollar to buy him a coffee. Yeah, I know not totally fair to say that

but if the stereotype fits, it fits. Sad that your family had that

tragic event happen, but your story is not new. I hear it EVERY DAY!

It's all the same. A new story, a new face, a new reason you need that

$10 dollars... If you knew you did not have enough gas to get back to

where you needed to go, why did you come? If you are hungry and knew

you didn't have anyone here in town or any money, why did you come? No,

I do not feel compelled by " Jesus " to give you the money you asked for

after I told you no nicely twice. To answer your story " This hospital

is NOT a hotel, and I am not the Red Cross " , as I slowly walk away. " Lexington Craig's List, Rants and Raves

I do understand what this person is saying, and while she is correct on some points, I don't believe she will really see whats going on until she has a loved one in a coma. Wayne CoghillPractice ManagerMidtown Primary Carewww.doctorcoghill.com
