I really need help. I have a kidney recipient that has a living donor that is in prison. Recipient states Warden told him they have prisoners donate kidneys all the time, it is not a big deal.

My question is....who pays for the this? The guards and transportation etc.

The family pays for the guards and travel

and often don’t have those kind of funds.

Same response – and guards would be

needed 24/7 in the hospital for the surgery and inpatient recovery time.

Recipient insurance or the transplant center would bear none of the

transportation or guard expenses.
