Guest guest
Dear On behalf of all our members, welcome to our Erythema Nodosum Group! I have added the information to our " Member Medical History " Files on the Group site and posted it below. You now have Full EN Group privileges. You are receiving ALL EN Group emails, and you can go to the EN Group site whenever you like by going to : http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/erythema_nodosum_Group/ and logging on with your Yahoo ID:vickilee55 and secret password. You do not have to have the group emails delivered to be a member here. It is deja vu here today as our new member " ppeachy69 " also reported ulcerations with EN. It is good to have two members with similar stories come in on the very same day. Peachy's email is on our Group site for you to read. This is the value of having such a large group. We are all starting to find our " twins " . Welcome, again Vicki! I'm glad you joined us! Love, ******** Vicki Warlow's Case History vicki.warlow@... vickilee55 My name is Vicki and I am 50 years old. I was recently diagnosed with Erythema Nodosum. This diagnosis came 3 years after my first outbreak. The trouble with an accurate diagnosis was that my affected areas will ulcerate and we (my doctor & I) thought I had spider bites---After my 4th " spider bite " I went to a dermatologist. He has done 2 biopsies and can conclude that the areas under the skin of my right ankle (near the lower shin) is definitely Erythema nodosum, but he is not 100% that the ulcerated areas are the same thing. My other affected area is my left arm--I have had small pea-sized lumps inside my arm just above the elbow. This area doesn't feel warm like my knees do but when a biopsy was performed on the lump it showed that it was " most likely " Erythema Nodosum. I have searched online and it seems most people with this problem don't ulcerate. It seems that my problem is becoming chronic and that would be the one thing that I want to work on, not having this reoccur. My most recent outbreak happened August 1, 2005. I had an area on my shin that became painful, my knees were hurting (and warm) and I was having daily headaches with fatigue. The skin eruption followed. An area very near this painful area on my shin started to become red and a bump formed within 3-5 days. Followed shortly thereafter, another bump and a new red area. Both looked infected by the end of the week. This was when my dermatologist took another biopsy and asked me to try bed rest and prednasone. I thought the results were good. I stayed in bed for 4 days and the prednasone was okay (it has made me VERY edgy in the past when I worked and took it). But the results haven't lasted. I still have 2 wounds on my leg 8 weeks after they first surfaced. I find myself getting very nervous just thinking about what will happen if I don't get better and stay better. My family has been great, but they are tired of this being a constant problem. I just want advice about how do I stay well. Thanks for your interest in my case and let me know if I can do anything else or include any other things . Vicki
