Hi everyone!

I am new to the group and wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself

and my situation to you all.

I am a 37 year old female who was involved in an automobile accident with a

semi-truck almost 4 years ago. In the accident, my right hip (acetabulem)

was basically crushed. Due to my hip also being knocked out of place and

being that way for a long period of time while the doctors were trying to

assess all of my injuries, I received nerve damage that has resulted in

paralysis of the right foot and lower leg. As a result of this injury to

the nerves I have been diagnosed with RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy).

I am under the care of a pain management clinic and have had many procedures

done to no avail to help relieve the pain. The only alternative I have now

is a Spinal Cord Stimulator which as of this date I am reluctant to agree to

So, that leaves me with being on a load of medication. I will list all my

medications in case anyone happens to know information or need information

on anything I am taking. The medicines do help but my quality of life is

down to just about zero. I was a special education teacher before my

accident and now I am on full disability, which in itself is very hard to

accept.

I hope to gain support and information that I badly need at this time in my

life. In return, I hope I can be of assistance to anyone who is in a

similar situation as myself.

Here's the list of my current medications:

Wellbutrin XL 150 mg once daily

Bextra 10 mg twice daily

Duragesic Patch 50 ug/h change every 72 hours

Phenergan 12.5 mg. as needed for nausea

Vicoden 750 mg as needed for break-thru pain

Neurontin 400mg three times daily

Zanaflex 4 mg twice daily

Thanks for the opportunity to get to know everyone and for any help you may

be able to give to me.

Sincerely,

Yvette from TX

Wow, you've sure been through the mill & then some, my friend. Welcome here,

Yvette. Read all the posts, they're all helpful & educational. Great people

too. What is a Spinal Cord Stimulator & how does it work? Never heard of that.

Do you get hot flashes or sweats from your Rx meds? I was on Welbutrin for only

2 days a few years ago & chucked it when I began to have awful side fx. The data

said it could cause seizure & mania. I got the mania & shakes. And it was a low

dose. Never again on that one. What's the Bextra & Zanaflex for? Never heard of

those either before.

Blessings,

Caroline

Hi Yvette,

Welcome to the group but I'm sorry you have so much pain. I have a spinal

cord stimulator and I love it! It helps the pain in my legs about 80% and

that is great to me. Unfortunatly it does not help my back pain much so I

have to still take meds but I still would not give up the stimulator....the

meds don't help the leg pain much.

If you want more info, feel free to email me anytime....melback@... and

I'll do what I can.

Take care,

Ann

Ann, what Rx meds do you take for your back pain? And how does a Spinal

Stimulator work? What does it look like? Is it like a Tens unit?
