Guest guest
I met with Dr. Gutsmann today - gosh.. it had to have been 30+ minutes talking about my results. I was taking 4 grains of Armour and tested: TSH <0.006 (0.450-4.5) Free T4 2.05 (.82-1.77) Free T4 8.7 (2.0-4.4) Obviously high.. she reduced me to 3 grains about 3 weeks ago.. a compounded naturethroid.. and I feel GREAT. Hormones - Saliva Testing on Day 21: Estradiol 0.8 (1.3-3.3) Progesterone 510 (200-3000) Ratio Pg/E2 638 (100-500) Testosterone 15 (16-55) DHEA 3.1 (2-23) Cortisol AM 4.8 (3.7-9.5) All of these tests were only taking a progesterone supplement. She is going to continue the progesterone cream at current strength. She gave me a Testosterone cream - she actually gave that to me weeks ago based on old labs from Dr. Owens - but I couldn't start it until after I took the saliva test. I started it about 3 weeks ago and it's wonderful! DHEA - I am to continue the DHEA sublingual she gave me 3 weeks ago (still didn't use it before test) she said she would like to see my estradiol/progesterone ratio a little better - but she is hesitant to give me an estradiol supplement. Since I am 7 months off of birth control - after 15 years of use - she said my body isn't making all of this stuff on it's own yet.. She feels that if I wait a bit longer, it will kick back in. With the DHEA, progesterone cream and testosterone I already feel much better - so I'm happy with the let's wait approach. She told me to go ahead and start trying to get pregnant again. She also told me that if my OB won't treat me with the compounded meds - that she will treat me during pregnancy. I'm very very pleased with her.. I told her that my old docs office had closed and she wondered how she could get more patients. She really enjoys treating hormones.
