Hi & welcome! I feel for you my dear. That's an awful thing to have

happened to you & life long pain from it too? Don't believe it. There's gotta be

new discoveries coming soon to end that for you. Maybe by pain Rx implants of

some kind? I wouldn't have a clue what to advise for you with metal in your

back. I haven't got that & won't, even after the docs have all said I should

over these 40 years of spinal deterioration. Bones can be rebuilt &

strengthened...metal's a permanent thing that stays that way.

My son has much metal in his back too f rom crushed vertabrae from a car

accident. He's still in pain too. It didn't help him much pain-wise. It's

necessary tho, I know to keep the nerves from being pinched at least in order to

allow the spinal cord energy to run through the nerves to the organs. Else

they'll stop working. So that much I know. Have you tried accupuncture? I've

heard that helps with pain. Don't know about in your case tho.

I have a middle aged lady friend with metal all up her spine from accidents.

She's on the heaviest doses of morphine every day, like a late stage terminal

cancer patient. But she's been on it for years & no bad effects from it as she's

got a good liver that processes out the toxins really fast. It helps to have a

well functioning liver when on pain meds. My son still takes pain meds day &

night tho too. I don't know how good his liver is. Looks bad to me as he's way

overweight & full of toxins. I don't know how to help him.

I wish you well & glad to have you among us,

Caroline

,

Welcome and sorry to hear of your terrible accident.

I am not afflicted with the same thing you are but I know quite a few people in

this group are and can hopefully give you some specific help and advice!

As far as your son and his liver....I would recommend taking only pure

opioids...no Tylenol or other crap. It is the Tylenol that ruins your liver

and not pure opioids. Also I take (and recommend it to anyone one lots of

meds) Milk Thistle...it is an herb that cleans the liver and has even been

shown in studies to reverse cirrhosis. You can do a search on the net about

Milk Thistle and you will be amazed at it's benefits.

That is all I can offer....hope it helps.

Thanx Ann,

Well that does it for me. I went off the Darvocet today because of the heat &

sweats & switched to Tylenol. So I guess that's out too as I have a sluggish

liver myself. I take Milk Thistle every day & some other stuff for the liver,

kidneys & bowels too.

My California son sent me a great catalog for nutritional supplements that are

really cheap & are name brands. It's Swanson's. So I'm ordering mine from them

from now on. Anyone who wants their phone number for a catalog, let me know.

As for my Oregon son, he's on opioids I'm sure. Tylenol doesn't touch his pain.

Not doing much for mine either. I'm okay though as long as I'm sitting or lying

down. Walking is painful as heck still with this bad hip & back.

Blessings, Caroline
