Guest guest
: I for one can tell you that I have " Been There " ! My daughter did the very same thing when she was your daughter's age. Frustrating upon frustrating. My daughter was also self-injurious and aggressive. Sometimes it was because we weren't undestanding her, but most of the time it was " just because " , or we simply didn't know the reason. If you take any advice to heart, let it be this, most kids with autism improve. With therapy and intervention, nearly all make some degree of progress, sometimes it is simply a matter of finding what the child will respond to, coupled with the child's own natural development. Some do make nearly miraculous progress, but if any one therapy was a " magic bullet " , whoever the inventor would be, he would be supremely wealthy by now. Vickie Re: Re: New Study On Autism Vickie, thanks for the encouragement on the talking issue. That gives me some hope that my little one may be able to communicate effectively in time like your . She just gets so frustrated trying to let us know her wants and needs. She usually brings things to us, or pulls us to things to tell us what she wants. However, sometimes we just can't figure it out and that is frustrating for us all...........
