Guest guest
Who is this new doctor, if you don't mind me asking?Imelda MaciasSubject: Cytomel, Tom Thumb, Medicare Part DTo: Texas_Thyroid_Groups Date: Wednesday, November 24, 2010, 6:08 AM Hi, All! I came home from my second visit with my new doc with a script for some Cytomel 5 mcg. My Reverse T3 was over range. I am to add it to a reduced dose of my ERFA. This doc usually prefers to write for compounded timed-release T3, but is honoring my request to use a standard product. He is also honoring my request to make any changes to my thyroid meds in stepwise fashion. We are substituting 5 mcg of Cytomel for 30 mg of ERFA. I am currently taking three of the 5 mcg pills and having no problem. I especially like the lunchtime dose, as I am no longer conking out every afternoon. I will proceed rather quickly to four a day, so that I will be on a stable dose for eight weeks before testing. While T3 levels are stable at two to three weeks out, Free T4 levels take 6-10 weeks to stabilize. My Medicare Part D will not pay for the brand name, unless I get a "formulary exception" and also use the generic for one month. If I jump through all of their hoops, I may get my Cytomel for $261.25 copay for a 90-day supply. Hardly worth the trouble.. . . . .So, I took my script to Tom Thumb Pharmacy, told them not send it through my insurance, and got a factory sealed bottle of 100 pills for $86.30 and no aggravation . . . . . .I did the same thing with my brand name Glucophage. Medicare Part D is a joke. I have exactly one maintenance drug that I get from them: Allegra-d for allergies.

Guest guest
How much over range, if you don't mind my asking? My rT3 was just a bit over (don't remember the numbers) and my doctor ignored it. > > > Hi, All! > > I came home from my second visit with my new doc with a script for some > Cytomel 5 mcg. Guest guest
It was about 25% overrange. Most doctors are just not wlling to deal with RT3. > >> > > > Hi, All!> > > > I came home from my second visit with my new doc with a script for some> > Cytomel 5 mcg.
