Guest guest
Lori, Thanks. Sleeplessness is probably my number one side effect enemy. I laugh when a new doc asks if I have thoughts of suicide. Who wouldn't when the pain keeps you up nightly, the pills you take for the pain also make you so sick to your stomach that you can't sleep, sleeplessness and drugs disrupt dreaming so if you appear to be asleep you aren't getting the benefits of normal sleep, there's that gas thing in bed!, and one more word: constipation. And to top it off, your spouse has moved out because you aren't a good bed partner. Are you practicing any sleep rituals: hot bath, relaxation yoga, daily review with laughter exercises, reading, (not many people find the tv useful but) tv, humming, Scotch ....? I'd bet we all have several. One I use is to concentrate and visualize the numbers from 100 to 0. I give the numbers a style. I never go below say, 30. When I get to 29, then, the next number I visualize is 92. If I make a mistake counting backwards, I start over at 99. A bunch of silly rules, but it helps me doze off after awhile if it works. Visualizing letters of the alphabet backwards works too. I think the point is to concentrate as hard as you can on something that doesn't matter. Need to go. 3 Cheers <rest, repose, renew> Alan Lori wrote: > Hi, Alan, your post made me smile! I find that if I can get some sleep at night, I'm cheerful and capable enough during the day to handle the moderate pain of my bladder.
