Dear Group,

Please join me in welcoming our newest member, Colleen Whittaker who

is our second PG member to join today.

I have added your Case History to our " Member Medical History " Files

on the Group site and posted it below.

You now have full EN Group privileges.

You are set to get all our EN Group emails, and since we are an active

group, you may wish to have the email stop and read or post from the

group site:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/erythema_nodosum_Group/

just type in your Yahoo ID:tempest 128

and secret password.

Please avail yourself of our PG Forum in our Files Section. It is a

collection of some of our PG Members conversations that you may find

quite informative.

Your description of PG's pain is so very vivid. I do believe agony is

an apt description. I am sure you will find both information and

support here.

Welcome!

Colleen Whittaker's Case History

4/27/05

1. Your name and age: Colleen Whittaker 51 years old

2. Your location Hamilton Ontario Canada

3. Your email address: tempest128@...

4. Your Yahoo ID tempest 128

5. Describe your erythema nodosum/PG symptoms or, if you do not have

EN or PG, please explain why you wish to join this group. There is a

15 centimetre ulcer on lower left leg, it has spread to the to various

sized ulcers all over the left foot. The only clear areas of the left

foot are the ball of the foot and arch as a blood blister that I had

on my heel is now pyoderma gangreneosum. Before the diagnosis I was

in agony I have never experienced that level of pain before in my

life. It felt like being branded all over the left leg below the knee

constantly, there were also constant " lightning bolts " that is the

only way I can explain it where even areas unaffected seemed to be on

fire constantly. I also have cellulitis that further seemed to

complicate the issue. Since the punch biopsies and the diagnosis at

least the pain is at a manageable level, however it is spreading. I

want to be able to get information and givr and get support from

others who understand what this feels like and share the ups and downs

with others. I feel we need all the support we can get.

6. List any other health conditions.hypertension, Hepatitis B and C,

and artiosclarosis(poor blood circulation to the leg, a cataract on my

right eye that I see the cataract surgeon May 8th 2005. I have on and

off IBS, and vasculitis. Just diagnosed with either Rhuematoid or

Ostioarthritis....there is some debate currently over which one it

is....as Hepatitis C can cause a false positive result in the blood

test for RA.

7. State what medications or treatments you take for EN, and their

effectiveness: Currently they are using insite gel, mepital and mesorb

and gauze dressing to hold it in place with a mesh stocking.

The,mesorb is changed daily, irrigation with sterile water as I cannot

stand the saline, gentle wiping, a reapplication of insite gel and

then it is rebandaged. The mepatil is changed every 4 to 7 days,

originally it was changed daily. Of course I try to stay off it.

Currently my life is going to the wound clinic and not much else. The

Drug Protocol is as follows:

Daily :

Apo Prednisone 5mg take 7 pills all at once with food.

Altace 10 mg one capsule twice daily(hypertension)

pain. (pyoderma gangreneosum) pain management.
