Dr. Sullivan in Irving just recently wrote me a script for

compounded T4/T3 which consists of Armour plus additional synthetic T4 to meet

my personal needs. You might want to give him a try. He mainly goes by

Bloodwork & your symptoms. He is a PA at Tiena Healthcare.

Dr. Bessie Owens closes practice

I called Dr. Owens yesterday to make an appointment

and the receptionist told me she is closing her practice, effective yesterday.

This was very disappointing to me as I have seen about every doc in Dallas. Her office is

supposed to call me back with a recommendation of another thyroid doc. My

internist can't help me. He asked me to give him a try on thyroid treatment, he

said it was one of his sub specialties. He kept me on Armour but was slowly

increasing synthorid and lowering the Armour and I was quickly losing hair and

having other increased symptoms. Now I am taking compounded thyroid and generic

synthroid, and he refuses to prescribe anything compounded so I can't even get

him to write a refill for me. I don't know that Dr. Owens is the greatest, only

been seeing her for maybe 8 months, but she is very kind and totally

understands how hypothyroid people feel, and believes what I tell her.

I don't post here hardly ever, but I do read the posts from time to time. If

anyone has a recommendation of a doc they love around Dallas, please let me know. I'll start

reading the past posts to see if there is a doc that I would be compatible

with.

Will Dr Elmore prescribe Cytomel?  I've finally made the switch and have only been on levoxyl/cytomel combo for a month now but so far doing ok and would like to continue to see what happens.  Didn't see her in the database.

I've been pretty devastated by the news about Dr Owens.  I'm not exactly surprised because she did not look well at all when I saw her right before Christmas and from what she told me, it was pretty serious.  I sincerely hope she'll be ok.  :(

The doctor they're recommending is Dr Gonino.  I personally won't go back to him again so when I asked if they had someone else, the guy mentioned who is right next door to them.  But he wouldn't do any sort of alternative treatments I was told so I'm guessing that means no Armour and probably no testing of the frees.

For former patients of Dr Owens, if they haven't contacted you directly, call them to get your medical records picked up.  Doesn't sound like they're exactly reaching out to all patients in advance as I happened to call to ask a question about my appointment next week and that's how I found out.  I hadn't been keeping an eye on this group in awhile so I was really out of the loop.

I've had a terrible week so far with some family stuff that has me on the edge of a nervous breakdown and then to find this out, well, I was pretty devastated.  It's not been a very fun morning to say the least.  lol

If all you need is a prescription for dessicated thyroid (not Cytomel), Alan Berg in can help you. But he does not do adrenals or s*e*x* hormones. The other docs in his practice also prescribe dessicated thyroid. I would avoid Dr. Wood, however.

Elmore in Irving is another choice. Sullivan, also in Irving.

Wilkinson in is a new listing. Not much info on him.

Not currently on our list, Mahoney in Southlake, V. Gonino in Rowlett.

Gonino will keep you on a dose prescribed by another doc, but forget about increases.
