Guest guest
Hi Sharon It certainly was wise of you to persist in searching for an answer to your fatigue. Auto immune diseases can be weird. I suppose family histories start with someone don't they? If you do not feel better after taking the supplement please pursue further testing. My former brother-in-law was having your same symptoms and he was in a multiple gland failure ( I can't remember the name of the condition). He is doing quite well now but it took two trips to the Cleveland Clinic to establish the best medication protocol to treat his problem. It's a different tiredness to anything i've ever had before, I really thought I was lacking in a vitamin or something. I bought anything that promoted energy. The one thing they do recommend and which I am always taking is Evening Primrose Oil. > Auto immune diseases can be weird. What do you suggest? I'll be having another blood test in a month to see how i'm progressing, and i've had an ultra sound on the thyroid itself. > My former brother-in-law was having your same symptoms and he was >in a multiple gland failure ( I can't remember the name of the condition). > Really! Wow. Never heard of that. Did he get lots of infections as well? I haven't had any, not even a cold or sniffle for about 4 years. What was another gland that failed for your brother? Just so I can be more vigilant. >He is doing quite well now > Excellent! > but it took two trips to the Cleveland Clinic to establish the best medication protocol to treat his problem. > so do you recommend I go to a specialist (an endocrinologist)? Or is this a thing a normal G.P. can handle? (General Practitioner) Thanks for replying Kaylene. :-) Sharon.
Guest guest
Sharon, i was taking evening primrose oil for the same reasone, but didn't seem to get much help from it. Evening Primrose Oil contains an EFA , a vitamin that can't be made in the human body. EFA's perform many functions; thier cheif roles are as integral parts of every membrane in the body and as the precursors of prostaglandins, key short term regulators which help control all bodily organs. Unless enough EFA's are supplied, physical abnormalities develope. etc.... " ~ So they recomend that you should, wether fatigued or not, but especialy if you are hypothyroid take Evening Primrose Oil. I have a whole chapter on it here, but I can't type that out. I take 1000mg BD. ( twice a day) And will do for as long as possible too. :-) I hope you start to feel better. I'm actualy still worsening and feel physicaly crap. but with a reading of 150.0 instead of the highest range of 4.0 I feel quite justified to complain now. <bg> So i am. I hope you never feel this way. Or if you do you can take a little white pill and wait for it to work just like I am. Sharon. All the best. :-)
Guest guest
Sharon, This is good info and I was unawareof the hypothyroid effect. I was originally told it helped PMS but later was told it helped with fatigue. I think I just wasn't taking enough... Thank you as this is most helpful and I will try a larger dose! Guest guest
Jan, How much evening primrose oil is one supposed to take for fatigue? I take it but mostly for pain & menopause problems, not fatigue. Didn't know it helped fatigue. I have hypothyroidism myself & am on Synthroid. Guest guest
Jan, Okay so how often during the day will you take the 1000mg Primrose oil? As needed or with meals, what? It's rather expensive I've found. For more pep & energy I've been using a triple ginseng, herbal formula called " Hi-EnerG " I can only get at Walgreen's or Long's drugs stores around here. It's strictly only 1-2 pills a day & no more tho according to the label. But boy, it sure revs me up & keeps me going. I'm out of it now but was taking it at least every morning when I do most of my work. It wears off after 4 hours tho. Then I drop in my tracks & have to take a 2-3 hour nap. But I can take another in the afternoon if necessary but no more than that. It's cheap too. Only $10. a bottle which lasts a month for me. So I've not been without it for over 4 years now. It's great. I've tried all the other natural ginseng formulas like Ginsana, etc. but none of them worked half as well for me. I notice a lot of people buy the Hi-EnerG because the stores run out of it frequently. So I usually buy at least two bottles each time if they have them because sometimes there's none left on the shelves. So it's gotta be a good product for others too. Guest guest
That sounds too good to be true!! However I would be very careful of the Ginseng products because they increase the blood pressure and heart rate. You might ask your physician about this. Good Luck and take care.
