It not only has to be handicapped accessible at the entrance but be sure the doorways are wide enough for wheelchairs and that the patient bathroom meets the size needed for a wheelchair to turn around. A contractor can tell you by looking at the bathroom if it meets the code for accessibility. We are in an old house (1850's) but on the lowest level and it already had a bathroom but it was not large enough so another space had to be remodeled into a larger bathroom to meet accessibility code before we could open our office.a MintekHi,Does an IMP have to be handicapped accessible? How does this relate with Medicare patients?Thank you.Uday

As has been mentioned, it will vary by

state and locality. We built out new space – so it had to be not only ADA compliant for

patients, but for employees as well. That really made us mad when it was just

us in the beginning!!!

Does an IMP have to be handicapped accessible?

How does this relate with Medicare patients?

Thank you.
