Teena,

Last year when I went to a DAN conference there was a

Dr. who spoke about bipolar and autism. He thought

there was a relation and he was using EFA's to treat

people with bi-polar with great success. Gray(AS)

does take cod liver oil, evening primrose and an EFA

oil and it really does seem to help him. My 16 yo dd

has been suspected of bipolar for several years now

and I would really like to try this with her but my ex

has custody and is not really interested in helping

her. Have you ever tried supplements and do they

help?

I tried the fish oil but I belch that so bad that I had to quit it. I have tried the flax seed oil but someone told me it is not the same, so I haven't been very faithful about taking it. I guess I could try it again. I have a lot of quirky problems like irritable bladder at times, so taking b-complex for some reason bothers it.

My mother has suggested taking Tofu...LOL.. they say soy products are really good for a lot of ailments, so I just went out and got some. I am going to try eating a little bit of tofu every night and see what that does. Tofu is also suppose to help premenopausal women (I am 43) so I figure that might be helpful and it is natural.

I have taken acidophilis capsules, it is the stuff that is in yogart. It is suppose to be good for the digestive tract, but I also noticed it seems to help with redness and itching of my face (I have rosecea).

I have an article on Magnesium...for using it on children with ADD and ADHD....I can send that article. It talks about natural remedies and how to tell if a child needs magnesium and certain supplements. If they are ticklish or not, etc.

Actually I am half Japanese so I don't mind the taste of tofu, I grew up on weird tasting stuff...LOL...I actually like it with soy sauce. But thanks for the idea. I think that I would like my children to eat tofu, it would be good for them. Tofu takes on the taste of most anything you make it with. So if you put chicken or beef broth with it, it will take on that taste. I was thinking you could maybe make a gravy out of it. Never thought of pudding. I am going to try that though.

Teena,

I just found this product this week that has made getting tofu in Garrett easier (he doesn't like the texture of meat so I am using meat substitutes). There is a company called Mori Nu that makes an all natural pudding that is completely dairy free. You make it with tofu. One serving is about a quarter of the container of tofu. Believe it or not it tastes really good, but it is very sweet. It doesn't contain any refined sugar so it uses pure cane sugar. But just from tasting it you would never know it has tofu in it. You should be able to get it at any local health food store and it is fairly inexpensive.

mom to Garrett age 3 somewhere on the spectrum and a whole host of medical problems too

If the acidophilous helps maybe you have a yeast

problem? I have been considering trying to find a new

doctor because I have some symptoms of a yeast

overgrowth as does Grayson but my Dr scoffs at this.

One of the moms on this site has a web site with some

links to yeast stuff. It would be worth looking into.

Teena, I would be interrested in your article on magnesium. I try to read all the stuff I can on natural alternatives. We use magnesium. You can send the article on the list or email me privately. Thanks in advance, Sharon(moderator)
