Betty Jo:

My son would spend hours on the computer if we didn't regulate his time and try to balance it with other activities. What type of programs does your son enjoy?

Charlie doesn't care for typical "computer games" like his older brother (fortunately). But he currently loves Tonka Construction (an architecture type game in which you build buildings), Blues Clues, Jump Start 2nd Grade, etc.

How about your son? I was just glad for Charlie to finally get off his lightbulb fixation.

I wish my five year old would get off her Furby fixation. I think I am

going to kill the furball...or in this case furballs....Lightbulbs would

be nice change, they don't talk back.

Anyway, where I am not rude and since I am new here I guess I should

introduce myself. My name is Georga, I am a SAHM of 6 kids (soon to be

7). The four oldest have been diagonosed toxic encelopathy due to lead

poisoning and we believe that at least one of them has Aspergers. We

have been suspicious of some form of autism since she was about 15

months old but none of the drs. have listened to me up until this point

where they are worried about brain damage due to the lead poisoning. We

take the kids for their neuro-psych test on the 25th so hopefully we

will finally get some answers. Meanwhile I am looking for all the info

and feedback I can get.

Don't be so sure that lightbulbs are better than "furby's" !! :)) I cannot walk barefoot in my house because I never know when there may be broken glass somewhere. He is very very careful with his bulbs, and always has been, but accidents happen. When I have taken him to the auto parts store to buy a "halogen head light" which he begged for in lieu of a "normal" toy for a young child, you can imagine the wierd looks we have gotten. It is amazing how thick a skin you can develop.

Do you know how loud a flood light is when it explodes on a hard floor? Say when you are on vacation renting a car? How do you explain that to the people who look at you like you just flew in from Mars.

I am very pleased that he now seems to be moving on to computers and animals. But I am sure that will grow old also.

Anyway, welcome to the list! Lead poisoning?!?!? How terrible ,and how did that happen (old paint?)

The Readers Digest version of the lead story (and for anyone that wants

it I will be glad to share the entire thing) is that the last place that

we lived in before we moved to land the landlord knowingly

(violating a federal law) let us move into a house that was built in

1889 that was not up to code. When the health dept came out they found

22 layers of lead paint in the house. Need I say more there?

I can understand the problem with the glass. I have a friend in special

ed that is working with adults right now and she has a student that has

a thing for notebooks. Never uses them, but has a ton of notebooks.

Buys a new notebook every week and follows her around every day

" Notebook, notebook, say notebook . Notebook, brown notebook

, notebook.... " She said she would rather teach Rainman. LOL!

One Furby is fine, I could even handle one furby per child (that would

be 5 or 6 Furbys) but my 5 year old has 7 Furbys (which means there is a

total of 12 Furbies in the house...and they all get played with) and has

asked for Furby (and Furbys new friend Shelby) for Christmas, her

birthday, from everyone that gets her presents for her birthday and

Christmas, from the tooth fairy.... She insists that she has to have

one Furby of each color (she also has the Gizmo Furby). Her Furby

trainers book gets carried everywhere with one or more Furbies, then

there is her Furby computer game (at least it is educational),

everything has to be Furby. On the bright side, a year and a half ago

it was the Lion King and you can't find that stuff any more, (at least

you can find lightbulbs) glad she moved on to something you can find

even if it is annoying. My friend in special ed said that for some

reason autistic kids and adults seem to be attracted to Furby (she has

an autistic student that will not go anywhere without her Furby). I

wonder why this is. She also has a thing for trains, snakes and bats

(like those are normal girl things) but they are nothing more than

" Furby Distractions " .

I have had my children ask for some pretty weird stuff so I don't think

someone giving me a weird look for buying one of them a headlight or

something related would phase me much. Afterall, I am the same person

that mails Kool-Aid overseas (they can't get it) and that totaly weirds

out the people at the post office.

If you look at it all from a neutral standpoint, it is amazing what we

do for our kids and what we consider " normal " . Buying lightbulbs and

headlights and the likes for a child is " normal " in your house and I

don't know anyone besides me that would put up with a Furby battalion in

their house. I find it " normal " . I can only imagine what people with

NT children think of our families. They probably think that we fell off

the banana boat somewhere along the way.

Imagine 7 to 12 of them going at once (two...I would love to have just 2 Furbys

in the house) and you can imagine how I feel. We have Furbys, baby Furbys, the

Gizmo Furby....she even wants the new friend of Furby that is coming out this

month, Shelby. I think I am going to go mad.

Yes there is a wallchart available from the USA bullworker website.

One side of this is a women's bullworker program. About $20 US. It's

not bad--I've used it. But it is almost virtually the same as the

men's program. Right now I use the program on the sandow site--

intensive.

I've been using the bullworker on and off for about a year now (X5).

I noticed after my last 4 month stint with it my back became much

broader and I have a noticable " v-taper " . I could never manage this

with weights or BW exercises. So I'm a believer!
