Guest guest
Can you get a stool test for clostridia...my best guess is parasites - which you will not be able to test for - and bacteria...we had similar and around the same time in our house...if you are feeding anything that feeds yeast or bacteria I would STOP for now...cut all SUGARS, and go to whole foods only, meat, veggies, very limited fruit pref pear and green apples only for now...good luck. > > Hi folks! Guest guest
Clostridia didn't show in our stool analysis. only in elevated DHPPA in a urine test from Genova Diagnostics. Are you working with a DAN! doc? In our experiences, we usually see regression when we're doing something at first. so far, the antibiotics vancomycin/flagyl to treat the clostridia brought on HUGE aggression that lasted a few weeks. and then restricting his oxalates brought on behaviors, both periods of regression were followed by huge improvements. it's hard, though to stick with things when it seems as though it's causing all progress to go backward. What does your little one eat? any special diets? Kari > > > > Hi folks! Guest guest
Stop the rice, mom!!! As far as the issues with the SCD...that was the deal with Stan's kid too...and those issues probably saved him bc it made Stan narrow the diet so dramatically, Paleo style, that he recovered his kid faster than anyone else that I know of...I would do soup and the foods he fed and his comprehensive approach if possible before trying the flagyll route again...we are on it now and it does not seem to be working...for us there may be no shortcut but doing the soup intro AGAIn of the SCD and then just meat and fats this time around till we nip this thing in the bud. The body needs fats and proteins more than anything else....think of the eskimos/inuits...that is all they eat basically...no fruits and veggies to speak of...we are pulling everythin at the moment except roast chicken, pear, and sips of broth...I finally figured out that a bit of banana IS a problem, the apple a day is too....we are going tro have to hit the clostridia hard with diet changes since the antibiotics do not seem to work for Matt at this time....we are going to do a HUmaworm cleanse, but have not yet... > > > > > > Hi folks! Guest guest
We do brown rice and potato too and seem to have all the same problems. I know the yeast and bacteria are there, they show up on the oat, but not on stool tests. Do most of us have this issue? My concern is that my son's amonia levels are really high and he does not want to eat protein. Does anyone have any suggestions?Caryn Reid Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Guest guest
I used to be there with Mackie...you will not like the answer...for us it was the SCD intro and eliminating all foods he wanted to eat that were further injuring his gut by feeding bacteria and yeast...like rice and potatoes...after two days of being offered soup he dove into a piece of chicken and he has never looked back...now all he WANTS is protein/chicken drumsticks...so we are in a different yet still wacky place....I regret that we didn't carry on with the SCD and just keep setting out the easy to digest options...instead we fed green apples and a bit of orange and banana...big error on our part. For us it seems there is no way off this ride except to do the difficult diet interventions that will heal the gut and give him life long habits so that he can live well and in good health not battling yeast and bacteria etc his whole life....HUGE DRAG. Try and get rid of the foods that are hurting him and work hard to bring in the healing ones. Next stop - kefir water. All aboard....woo woo. Sorry, Matt is really into right now....Di > > We do brown rice and potato too and seem to have all the same problems.
