Dear ,On behalf of all our members, welcome to our Erythema Nodosum Group! Thanks for sending in your Questionnaire. I have added the information to our "Member Medical History" Files on the Group site and posted it below. You now have Full EN Group privileges. You are receiving NO EN Group emails, and you can go to the Erythema Nodosum Group Site :http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/erythema_nodosum_Group/ whenever you like and logging on with your Yahoo ID and secret password.Strep is one of the most common causes of EN. You Dr. has given you good advice. It takes weeks and often months to get over a bout of EN. Sometimes it comes back. I have had EN since I was 21. I'm 58 now, and I have a mild case affectin gone one leg only with only one or two lumps. I go into remission within two weeks. We are all different, but your description sounds pretty "classic".I grew up in Brooklyn, worked in Harlem and lived in Hells Kitchen on W. 49th St. in Manhattan. I've live in Southern CA. for the past 34 years. The EN followed me there.Welcome to our Friendly Group!Love,****** Higgins' Case Historyerinhig@...Date: Mon, 05 Jun 2006 1. Your name and age: Higgins, 292. Your location: New York City3. Your email address: Hig@...4. Your Yahoo ID: Hig5. Describe your erythema nodosum/PG symptoms or, if you do not have EN or PG, please explain why you wish to join this group. I was diagnosed with EN after having strep throat. The first symptom appeared 3 weeks ago yesterday - two red bumps on my shins. I thought I had just bumped into something. One week later, I woke up and the bumps had expanded (about the size of tennis balls) and I was in pain when I walked. The first doctor I went to had no idea what it was; thought I had a bug bite or folliculitis. The next day, I went to another doctor who diagnosed me with EN, but suggested I see a dermatologist. The following day, I saw a dermatologist who confirmed it was EN. He said I should take Advil, keep my feet elevated, and rest. That's what I have been doing ever since then. In the third week, the bumps on my shins changed color from red to purple to yellow-ish. Then the redness and bumps moved down to my ankles, both of which are still swollen. Over the past 2 days, new smaller bumps (nickel-size) have re-appeared on my shins. Today, some of them are turning red. I'm not sure if this is normal, if the bumps are going to get worse, or if they'll just stay as they are. I have another docor's appointment tomorrow - just a check-up.6. List any other health conditions. NONE7. State what medications or treatments you take for EN, and their effectiveness: Advil - not sure if it's effective or not. I'm just taking it b/c the doctor told me to.8. When did you first get erythema nodosum or PG? Sunday, May 14th - at that point, I did not know what it was9. How long have you had erythema nodosum or PG? 3 weeks and one day10. Do you agree to treat all EN members with respect? Yes11.Do you agree to post NO advertisements for any products or services?
