Stew,

Thanks for your posts.

My 2 cents worth of info:

It doesn’t make a difference what

name pts use on the check – I have a stamp for ‘Pinnacle Family

Medicine’, but some people write it out to ‘Dr. Eads’

or the like. The bank doesn’t care.

You can have a company name, like "

Mones MD LLC " and then be ‘doing business as’

(dba) another name, like ‘One Family Doctor’. I believe

you do need to fill out some form of legal business registration form, with

your state, with this info.

clinic names vs. business names

I'm trying to decide whether to give my new IMP a

catchy name, but I already have created my LLC, " Mones MD

LLC " - and have been billing under this for years. It would be nice to

have a name of the clinic, so I can write warm invitations, like

" Heartside Family Practice is in a comfortable home-like setting. "

Sounds better than " come to my clinic " , or " visit Mones

MD LLC today. "

But how do you all do it? Which is the business name and what are the rules

here. Does it get confusing when patients write out a check to the wrong

entity.

I checked out some of your websites to figure this out and couldn't. ,

(don't mean to pick on you), was one example. The name is awesome - " One

Family Doctor " . But which is the business? Haresch MD?, or One Family

Doctor? What information needs to be available, and where?

I had my business band account at my credit union. They

recently decided to stop doing business accounts and so removed my DBA (Doing

Business As) from the account, so checks have to be made out to my name

now (until I decide to start paying fees for an account at another bank).

I did have a stamp made for the back of the checks:

For Deposit Only

OCTFCU Account #___________

Renaissance Family Medicine

Sharon McCoy , MD

This seems to help let some checks slip by that are made out to

the practice and is helpful in any case.

nope, just stamped it and shoved it in the pileI don't think the banks look at those checks at allfor example, I sent my rent check by mistake to an insurance company (somewhere in the midwest)2 months later I got a check back from them - they had cashed it for $1066.67!! and cut me another to return the money, saying ''addressee was unknown" - of course! it was made out to the lab that owns the office I rent!I dont know how I did that but no one is really looking.have also had the practice across the way cash my checks from the insurance company and then write me a check when they realized it.To: From: jnantonucci@...Date: Tue, 13 Jan 2009 13:54:38 -0500Subject: Re: clinic names vs. business names

Thanks. That clears things up for me.

Re: clinic names vs. business names

I agree with . Banks don't care to whom the check is made out. My

business is C. Schulman, M.D., Inc. but I got a fictitious name

permit from the state for Encinitas Personal Healthcare and registered this

name with the county so at times I list it as Encinitas Personal Healthcare,

Inc.
