They have closed 7 clinic's now and estimate 40,000 patients need to be tested . Any patient having a procedure between 2004 to feb 08 will be notified by the clark county health agency about getting tested . They estimate aprox 1,400 new infections of hep c . My GI's office was one that was associated with this group of doc's and is now closed pending further investigation . They used " air guns " which have no needles, but the medicine is shot through this air gun. They used the same guns over and over, without cleaning or inspection. This is one reason 'Nam Vets like me are part of the awful statistic that 'Nam Vets were 10 times more likely to get HCV than the general population. However, in all honest, I believe a lot of us vets were pretty wacked out and welcomed the sex, rock and drug culture (after getting home). I know I used drugs, and that's what I believe gave me the disease. I can't believe they're still propagating HCV by using unclean, used needles! Horrible story. I hope it's not an indication of any wide spread misuse in other facilites. What do they get out of it, a few pennies saved? I didn't have it done at the places closed but it sure does worry me . I am thinking about getting tested for other geno types of hep c and get an HIV test . las vegas clinics im surprised i didnt see any posts about this, i cant understand why the health care proff, used dirty syringes and all those people may be infected, thats so terrible and sad, my sis and her family live in vegas Never miss a thing.
