Guest guest
Dear Insel, On behalf of all our members, welcome to our Erythema Nodosum Group! Thanks for sending in your Questionnaire. I have added the information to our " Member Medical History " Files on the Group site and posted it below. You now have Full EN Group privileges. You are receiving ALL EN Group emails, and you can also go to the EN Group site whenever you like: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/erythema_nodosum_Group/ and logging on with your Yahoo ID and secret password. You do not have to have the group emails delivered to be a member here. It is a pleasure to welcome another RN to our Group. Scaring and ulcerations are not typical with EN, however it may be associated with other forms of panniculitis. I imagine you have been evaluated for possible sarcoidosis. It is more prevalent in the nursing profession and amongst African-Americans/Canadians. There are about 100 known triggers or causes of EN and you will find them listed on our Files at the Group site. It is a huge undertaking to test for all of them, but if you look at the list, you might find some worth testing for. Unfortunately little research is ongoing with EN, so we are limited there. Please invite your doctors to the Group. We are happy to assist them in helping you and others. All our resources are at your and their disposal. Enjoy your vacation, and as we say at the Group, Shins Up!! Love, ****** Insel andre's Case History 3/28/06 Dear moderator I hope the following info will answer questionnaire items: -Middle aged african canadian RN from Ontario Canada -rnwithen@... -Insel andre, Yahoo ID rnwithen : (RN with EN), for ~20y getting worse only past 2y. -I agree to respect the group. No advertising whatsoever -No other illness (besides seasonal pollen allergy) - Presently ugly scars on shins and inner L-calf (R-one healed and skin is " clearing up " ), many ups and downs last 6mths using mild or strong prescribed Hydrocortisone creams, or skin moisturizers(lotion) for redness and itching. Currently I'm half way thru a course of oral antibiotic(after persuading my GP to let me try it) because of odd spots occuring on back, thighs, forearms, waists acompanied by tiny pus-like discharge ,suspecting something infectious and systemic going on. I'm seeing some improvement so far, but there is ground for coincidence, as I also stopped all cream, using only White Petroleum Jelly about twice a day or when itchy and some other nursing tricks acquired at work, the fact that I'm on vacation for 9 days(I walk a lot on the unit: 15000 steps in average shift) could have an impact on the result. I'll keep you posted, feel free to e-mail me meantimes if you have advice or questions for me. - I come accross the group via Google, after deciding to " treat " myself via internet. My GP, then a skin MD told me that all my blood work and test are normal, my EN is just idiopathic. I just don't want to give up, my SKIN IS MY FIRST AND BEST SUIT... Au revoir (see you) Insel A.
