Guest guest
le, Sky is 26 months old. Please forgive my ignorance, but what is family resources? Is it through the county or a private organization? Our insurance paid for most of the Ped. Neuro. visits except the parts that were labeled behavior analysis or something like that. It was basically the charges from the neuropsychologist that's part of our Ped. Neuro.'s team. The insurance co. grouped that with mental health & drug addictions so they only paid 50%. I guess I shouldn't complain, but we were under the impression all of it would be covered. Now we're forking out $200 for someone we weren't even the least bit impressed with. The therapy Sky gets right now is through E.I. & so far they haven't paid anything, but it's on a sliding scale so we're only paying $90 a month for 6 hours of therapy. I've been talking to our S.T. about private therapy for Sky because we all love her so much. At this point she can't do private therapy for Sky too because of her contract w/the county. Once Sky is in the school program she can though. I'm not sure if the insurance company will cover any of that so we may have to go with someone else on our list or providers, but then again I don't know how much they will pay out. I think they limit it to so many visits per year. I have found a support group & plan on going next week. My husband is going too & at the last meeting he & another father were applauded for being there. I guess not a lot of fathers go to things like that. Anyway sorry to ramble on. I'm feeling better today, but still very frustrated with insurance & the cost of therapies. Wendie > Wendie, I went threw that period also where your fine one minute and crying > the next. That's normal. Go with your heart on her therapies you don't have > to bombard her with them at first go with what you have set up , and then > give it some time to see what happens. How old is your daughter again? We > don't do anyting , but pre-school , private speech and O.T. twice a week. Of > course she gets that in school also , but that's not nearly enough. Have you > tried family resources? If your insurance will not pay for doctor visits are > they paying for therapies? That's horrible! We had the same problem with > S.S.I and medicaid! Do what you can afford , and just research your county > for services have you contacted a support group? The best advice always comes > from others in your situation. I hope things get easier for you it just takes > time this is all new. It took me a year to even comprehend what autism really > is , and I still don't know that much.
