Guest guest
After several weeks on P-thyroid, at the same dose I was on with Westhroid, I went very hyper. I tried taking doses with food, but it just kept getting worse. So I dropped my dose from 3 to 2 grains a week ago, and felt much better. I have added 1/8th grain since then. I am rather flabbergasted by the amount that I dropped and am still feeling fine. I have no idea what level I will need to get to at this point. I just hope I can stay ahead of getting overly hypo. I talked to a pharmacist at WIP and asked her if I was an outlier in having a strong hyper reaction to their P-thyroid. She said, no, and added that a % of patients were having to reduce dosages after they switched to P-thyroid. She agreed with me when I asked if perhaps the use of the olive oil and no other binders or fillers was allowing the medication to enter my system unimpeded. I asked her if my large drop in dose was unusual and she said no. She said folks are reacting in different ways, some stayed on the dose they were on without issue, but dropping from 3 grains to 2 grains was not unusual. I will find it very interesting if I do better on the " straight stuff " versus medication like Armour, NT or Westhroid that has binders and fillers. Maybe this is what I've needed all along.
