Guest guest
Debi, I have a PhD. in biology and am a college biology professor and I can reassure you that any toxins that may or may not have been stored in your fats cells were flushed out of your body along with the fat. I truly don't believe that Allie would have been exposed to any toxins as a result of your weight loss which could have caused her autism. Guest guest
Thanks for your input. I doubt it as well, I am just curious as to how common it is. The text states that yo-yo dieting is believed to be dangerous (along with other reasons) because toxins stored in fat being released could be a casuse of cancer (Wellness Concepts & Applications, Anspaugh, Hamrick, to, fifth Ed). I figure if this theory is sound enough to make it into college text, then my curious thought could be a faint possibility... Guest guest
Hi There!! I had lost 41lbs right before I conceived my daughter, weight that was off for 1 year. Of course I received the MMR vaccine about 5-6 weeks BEFORE she was conceived so I don't know if toxins or MMR or genetics caused 's autism. My husband has an Asperger in his family plus alot of mental probs (who knows what's in mine, no one knows or talks about it, so I'm not BLAMING HUBBY), so there is maybe some connection or maybe all three or none. DOES NOT have Fragile X. She was tested for stuff, came back negative but that was in 1993 or 1994, maybe there are more sophisticated tests now. I had gained 50lbs with and lost about 30 after. Of course after I had her sister, I went back up and more so. The only good thing is that I warn mothers now who ARE NOT immune to Rubella postpone the pregnancy if you want to be vaccinated. I had bad vibes about that vaccine and it was already too late. I did save one gal from disaster and she has 2 healthy children. pregnancy question I'm taking some college classes, and in my health & fitness class it discusses how losing large amounts of weight can cause toxins stored in the fat of our bodies to be released. Then I remembered I lost 60 lbs right before getting pregnant with Allie. With all the discussion of toxins, chelation, & autism I was wondering if any of you lost weight before becoming pregnant with your child with autism? NO, I'm NOT trying to blame mothers AT ALL, it just got me thinking about the possibility of one aspect, especially with more people being overweight & women tending to be on diets a lot. Email me privately if you want to answer privately! I'm thinking about doing a survey for my biology class if I do see several weight loss answers. Thanks, Debi
Guest guest
Debi, It's not the actual amount of weight that is lost that has been linked to cancer it is the yo-yo aspect. The more times you expose your organs to toxins as they are being dumped into the bloodstream to be flushed from the body, the greater the chance of cell mutation and cancer. You mentioned that you lost a large amount of weight, but the real question is, HOW MNAY TIMES did you lose this large amount of weight? Even so, the danger would be to your cells and not to Allie's. Guest guest
No I lost no weight a matter of fact with I gained 60 pounds and with I lost no weight before conception and gained 8 pounds with him. Charlene -- pregnancy question I'm taking some college classes, and in my health & fitness class it discusses how losing large amounts of weight can cause toxins stored in the fat of our bodies to be released. Guest guest
regarding the weight loss i have also heard not to loose weight more than a ound a week while nursing because of the toxin issue and its effect on the baby! i did not loose weight prior to getting pregnant but had no trouble dropping the pregnancy weight and then some while nursing. very interesting! lyn
Guest guest
Debi, I didn't loose weight before I got pregnant, but I lost about 15 lbs. after I got pregnant in my first trimester. I had morning sickness 24/7 & on top of that I got the flu. In my case though I was pregnant with twins & one of my girls is dx with ASD while the other is progressing normally so far. Guest guest
, I was just wondering if your Dr. made you get the vaccine. I didn't receive it until after my girls were born. They didn't make a big issue about it. Wendie > Hi There!! > > I had lost 41lbs right before I conceived my daughter, weight that was off for 1 year. Guest guest
Debi I didn't lose any weight before becoming pregnant with my daughter Skylar. I actually stayed the same weight I had been for the previous couple of years. Guest guest
Well I can see why you would have wanted the vaccine. I never thought about breastfeeding while I got the vaccine until someone else mentioned it. Now that really makes me wonder.
