Guest guest
Dear Lynne, On behalf of all our members, welcome to our Erythema Nodosum Group! Thanks for sending in your Questionnaire. I have added the information to our Member Medical History Files on the Group site and posted it below. You now have Full EN Group privileges. You are receiving ALL EN Group emails, and you can also go to the Erythema Nodosum Group Site :http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/erythema_nodosum_Group/ whenever you like and logging on with your Yahoo ID and secret password. You do not have to have the group emails delivered to be a member here. You did a lovely job of answering our Questionnaire! It's ironic that some members have actually "cured" their EN with minocycline or other long term use of antibiotics. But minocycline can also trigger EN and it is on our list of triggers and causes on our Group site in our Files. It's nice to welcome another member from the UK. Most of us are Americans, but we have a growing international membership. You'll find this to be a very Friendly and Helpful Group!Love,*******Lynne Durkin's Case History5/18/06HiMy name is Lynne and I am a 37 year old female and live in Worcestershire. My email address is lynnetd@...My yahoo id is lynne1623Last weekend I started getting lumps in both my lower legs. These are a mix of small lumps and huge red painful lumps that almost look like the skin is burnt. Went to the doctors on monday as I have been suffering fromunbearble aching legs and very painful ankle joints for two months andhave had blood tests done that show all is not well. The doctor took one look at these lumps and said it was erythema nodosum. I have been on Minocycline antibiotic for nearly two years for adult acne and in one of the doctors medical books erythema nodosum was listed as third on the list as being a long term side effect of taking this drug. I had in fact stopped taking this the week before as I read the leaflet that came with the tablets and it mentioned side effects of muscle and joint aches so decided to leave it alone. It never mentioned erythema nodosum. I am not on any medication for erythema nodosum, the doctor said it should subside in time, but have to go for another blood test next monday and then he will decide if i need a chest xray. The doctor seems concered with my liver result. As i sit here, I have so many lumps on both legs, a huge one has come uptoday on my shin, the original lump that came up on saturday is now not as huge or painful and seems a bit lighter red today. Some smaller ones seem to just look like bruises on the surface. Have put cream on my legs as the skin in parts looks so red and crinkly and dry. When i stand up after resting my legs are so painful, then when I am up and stop walking they hurt! Feel like I can't win.I will treat all other EN members with respect and would like to hearabout other peoples experiences. I have read that an outbreak of this can last from 6/8 weeks up to 6 months.I would not post any adverts for anything on the site.I found your group by typing erythema nodosum support group on google.Hope I have done this all ok, using the laptop as I seem to spend a lot of time having to rest my sore swollen legs and I'm not too hot of how itworks.Looking forward to hearing back from you.Thank you in advance for any help and support you can offer.Lynne Durkin
