Guest guest
I haven't posted about this doc yet because she hasn't actually prescribed anything for me yet, but I think Dr. Ridley in the DFW area is a good bet. I've seen her once and she talked to me for almost 2 hours, explaining how the different hormones all work together and drawing me pictures. She came across as very intelligent and knew what she was talking about. It was comforting after 25 years of synthroid and docs telling me I'm fine, when I'm obviously not. What she told me was pretty similar to what you guys have reported - that all of my hormones are probably completely screwed up. She said my adrenals are probably fried, and because my problems started at puberty my sex hormones are most likely a mess. She had me do all kinds of labs (I'll post those when I get them) and I go back to see her on the 29th. She is a gyno, but specializes in thyroid. She even went on a small rant about Big Pharma and the medical profession. She was appropriately disgusted that I haven't once had a doc suggest trying something besides synthroid. She was very interested in what caused my problem in the first place, which I haven't even had anyone ask about. She said that she wanted to see all the labs so that she could get the big picture of everything that is going on with me, but that she doesn't treat by the numbers. I think she wanted to get a baseline before prescribing anything, but indicated that she would prescribe natural thyroid and any/all other hormones that I need to get fixed. She wasn't terribly expensive either, she charged my co-pay +$100 for the first visit, the follow up will be my co-pay + $40. The extra covers her time that the insurance won't. I feel very confident that she will help me and be easy to work with. Here is her website - www.integrative-gynecology.com. I'll post more after my next visit.
